A new model in Sony's digital book series, the PRS-T3S, will be out on Oct 4.
It has a 6-inch display (756x1024 dots). The resolution became 60% better than the previous model (600x800 dots). The book reader without a cover weighs only 160g, which makes it the lightest book reader in Japan. The backside has a microSD/SDSC slot.
One of the remarkable functions is that it enables you to read 600 pages after only three minutes of charge. So, when you realize that the book reader is running out of battery just before you leave your house for work, you can still charge well enough to read a whole book.
The PRS-T3S is expected to retail for about 10,000 yen.
The book cover is optional. There are 2 models: a standard cover (PRSA-SC30 about 3,000 yen) and a cover with a light (PRSA-CL30 about 5,000 yen). They will be also out on Oct 4 in three colors (black, white and red).

My dream toy: an e-ink reader that doesn't look like it was designed mainly to be cheap to produce. Light, but not weak. Kindle Paperwhite comes close. Sony, B&N readers feel like they would break by normal use.

3 minute charge? WOW! My Paperwhite takes 3 hours and 20 minutes.
