Krispy Kreme summer fun

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts will start selling a series of new doughnuts and drinks for a limited summer season from July 14 through Aug 31.

Cookie Green Tea is a ring-shaped doughnut topped with green tea cream containing cookie crunch, finished with white chocolate cream and cocoa crunch powder. Green Tea Matcha uses a green tea blend from Nishio, Uji, known as a leading producer in Japan, with plenty of green tea chocolate and decorated with green tea powder.

The special Summer Dozen Box (photo) includes the Flower Ring doughnut, which is a mango-flavored ring with plenty of white chocolate icing.

The summer drink menu includes the Green Tea Smoothie. It is a rich green tea jelly using Uji matcha, topped with whipped cream. Hop Grapefruit and Hop Peach are refreshing sodas which are 100% fruit juice with fruit jelly and pulp.

Nice, if you live in Tokyo. KK should seriously consider expanding nationwide.

I don't see what all the fuss is about with these donuts. I really don't like them.

Are they very popular in the states? Or are there better brand donuts?

Donuts, what cant they do.

Krispy Kreme for those not from the states are the dried out doughnuts for sale in almost every gas station across America. I do get a kick out of seeing lines outside of the local KK though.

Kinda of like if a bunch of Americans would like up for melon pan.

There's a new one opened up at my local station, and they really are Krispy Kreme-ing in the coinage. Hour-long queues at the weekend for donuts that pale in comparison with MisDo.

"Kinda like if a bunch of Americans lined up for melon pan"

Har!

Best donuts I've ever had. Worth lining up for.

Tried Krispy Kreme when I was in the states and found them rather undesirable. Most of my US friends agree.

We all now get our Donuts from Hara Donuts in Kichijoji(you will have to find those yourself). ;)

They're just donuts! There's a KK in Nagoya station, and it's always lined up. Not to mention they're probably making a thousand percent profit margin by the looks of the prices... no way I'd pay those prices and wait that long for Krispy Kreme donuts!

There's KK in Australia, and they are not very good. Dry, cold, overly heavy... I prefer hot cinnamon donuts from the local coffee shops here.

Honestly, if people would just go in and enjoy A DOUGHNUT (or two) like god intended, the lines wouldn't be so freaking long. But no, no, everyone has to go omiyage-style and buy a dozen or four. I don't understand it. They're just doughnuts. But someone has created this aura of magic around them, and now everyone thinks they MUST BUY AS MANY AS POSSIBLE!

Monkeyz,

A doughnut or two? Are you kidding? The box fits a dozen, not one or two. Who says "Oh, I think I'll bring a little baggie of a donut or two to work, and maybe share it with one person, or not." No, they say "I'll go buy a BOX of a DOZEN donuts and share them with everyone, building office harmony and goodwill." God even created a special word for it: dozen! Not one or two, or something so common as "twelve". And there's so many kinds of donuts, you have yo buy at least one dozen. Glazed, cookie green tea, green tea matcha, flower rings, chocolate frosted, cream filled, chocolate cream filled, jelly, plain, powdered, and bear claws too.

Everybody loves donuts. I know I do.

Donuts, like bacon, go directly to waistline. Must avoid at all costs.

When's Tim Horton's opening up a shop here? I'd camp out overnight for one of those.

We need Dunkin' Donuts in Japan ...

Didn't Dunkin Donurts flop over here?

There was also another Donut franchise that was rather short-lived.

Timmy's!!! ...a great Canadian tradition.

Absolutely. I can't watch hockey games cuz there'll always be a Timmies ad on the sidelines and I get the urge for a Maple Dip!

Bacon doesn't go directly to the waistline? Try it. You won't gain weight.

A Boston Cream from Timmy's!!! Oh I could kill for one. And ditto about the sheeple lining up to buy a million of them.

I think KK donuts is going bankrupt here in America. Many of the stores have closed. That stuff has so much colesterol, miles well just shoot fat directly into the blood stream. Not that regular donuts are all that healthy, but this stuff does wonders for companies that build those heart attack machines. You know the ones you see in the movies, they say "clear" and the body jumps from the electrical charge......
