Elecom has three new lens kits for the iPhone 4S/4 that can be attached easily to your iPhone 4S/4, allowing you to take slightly unusual photos using telephoto, fisheye, and wide/macro photography.
Each kit includes a case for the iPhone 4S/4, and a different type of lens that allows you to take slightly unusual photos.
The PS-A11CST1BK is the Telephoto Lens Kit, including a telephoto lens offering approximately 8x optical zoom. This lens can zoom in and take smooth pictures of far away objects, but it can also take pictures with a soft boke effect of nearby objects, just as you would with an SLR camera. As it uses an optical zoom, the pictures look smooth and beautiful, unlike the rough pictures that can be taken using a digital zoom.
The PS-A11CST2BK is the Fisheye Lens Kit, perfect for people who want to take some unique pictures of their pets, the scenery, etc. For example, you can take a picture looking up toward your pet’s face to create a cute photo with a distorted effect, or you can take a picture of regular scenery using the shape of a sphere to create a really special effect.
PS-A11CST3BK is the Wide/Macro Lens Kit that allows you to take both wide (wide-angle) and macro (close-up) pictures. The wide lens provides an easy way to capture in one picture any scenery that is too large for the viewing angle of an iPhone lens. The macro lens allows you to zoom in and take clear pictures of small nearby objects; recommended for taking pictures of detailed documents, plants, cookery, accessories, etc. Also, taking pictures of nearby objects with a wide-angle lens can add great perspective and impact to your pictures.
The cases on all 3 lens kits come with a handy stand. Additionally, the PS-A11CST1BK includes a tripod that keeps your device in place when taking pictures.
Price: 3,675 yen.

So where do you buy the lens kits? Do you need to go to an Apple Store, au shop or Akihabara?

It's about ¥2,000 per kit online. I'd get it if I had an iphone.

I'll stick with my DSLR... that just looks silly.

The iPhone has a very good camera, as phone cameras go. These lens kits sound like they'll produce very good tele and wide photos, as phone camera photos go. I just don't see the point in this - if you're going to carry around all this extra kit, why not just get one of the new mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras, which offer SLR photo quality in a compact package? Even a digital point and shoot camera offers better image quality than a phone camera.
