Fans of Japanese beer probably know that Hokkaido is the place to go if you are in search of delicious brews. Sapporo is home to the famous Sapporo Beer, beer museum, and the first beer brewery in Japan.

The Sapporo beer lineup has a vast collection that includes limited-edition or seasonal beers, some also very rare to find. They select their ingredients carefully using only the finest ones and always create unique brews, constantly surpassing our expectations.

The Sapporo Classic Furano VINTAGE is also part of their limited-edition lineup and uses freshly picked hops from around the last month of summer.

It is known for its fresh, mellow fragrance and a classic, well-balanced aftertaste. It is easier to drink than Sapporo Classic as it is lighter and has fruity accents, complemented by a subtle bitterness.

The brews might be slightly different each year, but the refreshing taste of the Sapporo Classic Furano Vintage remains the same.

If you look at this year’s package, you will notice the words Furano VINTAGE (富良野 VINTAGE). I don’t know about you, but personally, seeing the two words makes me think of a limited-edition product and gives me one-of-a-kind vibes.

For those not so familiar with the Hokkaido Prefecture and its surroundings, Furano is a town in Hokkaido, well-known for its beautiful landscapes and ski resorts.

I look forward to this. Sapporo makes some great beers. Sapporo Classic is our favourite.

Japanese beer is only mildly better than Korean beer. Sapporo is no better than Budweiser. You got to go out of your way to a craft brewery to find anything that deserves to be called beer. Best beer in Japan I ever had was in Nikko. Chocolate coffee stout brewed on premise.

Fans of Japanese beer.....? OK on a hot summer's day but who is really a fan of insipid rice lagers?

True of the mass-produced commercial beers, but Japan has a thriving craft beer scene that does some really diverse and amazing stuff. My long-time favourite, Hitachino Nest, is getting fairly big these days, but they still boast an impressive line-up of Old- and New-world inspired styles, often with a uniquely Japanese twist.

Craft breweries abound in Japan today. Look one up in your area for a real treat. Some have websites where you can order their brews delivered. I won't name my favorite, because everyone's taste in beer and ale rightly differs. Just google craft beer Japan.

Yes there are some good "craft " brews but just as many are awful overly hopped IPAs.

Hitachino Nest gets a thumbs up!

In the UK I can find craft beer for 250 yen a can-it knocks Japanese insipid beer out the window…

I drink Pabst Blue Ribbon.
