Major online store Rakuten and the American company Livescribe have agreed to sell a smartpen called Livescribe 3 on Rakuten Books.
As soon as you write on the accompanying paper notebook with the Livescribe 3 smartpen, the lines, letters or graphics you write get instantly displayed on a smartphone or tablet that has the Livescribe+ application installed. The notes are editable and searchable. Also, the hand-written letters can be converted into digital text.
Livescribe 3 Smartpen APJ-00016 - ¥19,336
Livescribe 3 Smartpen Pro Edition APJ-00017 - ¥25,509 It's the same as the above model, but it comes with 1-year use of Evernote Premium and a replacement ink cartridge.

For iOS7 and need to use "Livescribe Dot Paper" which is fairly reasonable.

I own one of the previous models and one of the things the software said was that it was only licensed for use outside Japan. I am assuming they have finally sorted that all out, otherwise you would be using this with none of the software.

Take a look at the Samsung Note (phone + tablet) line-up with the Wacom technology built in (models will come with a stylus). ==> Still some people like paper better for taking notes.
