Nina Ricci's namesake fragrance, Nina, promises enchantment with the radiant power of seduction. Combining temptation, femininity, and modernity, it's a fresh, fruity floral sprinkled with a tantalizing accord, the company says. Its newest product for Japan is NINA L'Elixir eau de parfum spray. Contained in the familiar apple-shaped bottle, it is described as "a true love potion," blending red fruit, jasmine, bright green Caipirinha lime, and musk to create a fresh, fruity and feminine scent.

Price: 8,295 yen for 50ml.

Can't agree with you Elbuda. Why do women plaster themselves with smelly liquids. Like shoes, they are far the woman's own benefit - I do not care either way but they make her feel good, I suppose. I think scents are generally weird and unnatural.

People tend to stay clean these days and do not need to mask their own smell. The only other function is for a musky scent to work as an aphrodisiac, which probably does work, but not as well as the historical method - application of the female body's own "musk" behind the ears to drive the men wild!

I do not like smelling like a fruit.

One thing I hate about Japan is most women do not smell good, I pass by a good looking J women and NOTHING, no nice smell, no lovely fragrance, aroma from her hair etc..so if you do want to get attention, ah yes! the scent of a women, is a huge turn on for me and for many men, at least from western countries, no idea what our native amigos are into, maybe the smell of cheap smoke from horrible cigarettes?? For me, if a woman stinks, sorry, SAYONARA.

Now if I thought it would REALLY work...

well if it doesn't work, you should be able to take it back!

Really, what is this obsession with fruity smelling stuff-perfumes, bath salts, lotions, softeners, soaps, even lip gloss? I prefer something fresh, light floral aroma like Eau d'Issey. And for almost 9000yen,I can buy 2 perfumes I really like.

Totally agree with mexico. I need to be turned on by a nice perfume, sexy shoes, nice make up....ones who disagree would be those women who hate being women, and guys that get turned on by anything that walks!

Elbuda and others - in Japan strong perfume smell is a big offence, especially while going out to a nice Japanese restaurant (think sushi and macha) or in the overcrowded trains and stations. Discrete perfume is OK, but one should not be able to smell it except in the intimate moments.

I learned to prefer the "close to no perfume" culture here. It is more natural and sincere.

I like when men near me smell of cologne too. It is so masculine.

Only 8,295 for 50ml - cheap!

Whatever happened to Hai "Be careful how you use it" Karate?

I'm with you, Elbuda. Nothing sadder to me than a beautiful woman who smells bad - just so disappointing! Having said that, there is little more appealing to me than a good-looking woman with a nice perfume on.

When are they inventing computers that let you smell those things?

I hope it's better than the other perfumes that are in use. Sometimes the odor of expensive perfumes turns rotten and makes me want to, er, uh .... go outside for some fresh air ... even in downtown Tokyo. I prefer women who are perfume-free ...

Men who drink profusely should use a stronger cologne to erase the smell of alcohol.
