Mini tatami made from recycled tea leaves with deodorizing effect

Kamimata Tatami Sangyo, a tatami shop in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, that promotes tatami culture, has launched an online shopping site that sells upcycled products such as mini tatami mats with a deodorizing effect made from materials recycled from used tea leaves.

The mini tatami (from 2,000 yen) is 22 cm long, 15 cm wide and 1.7 cm thick. It is made from remnants of traditional tatami mat tops, and uses boards made from recycled tea leaves.

Available at the online shopping site. You can also purchase purses and hair ties made from leftover tatami edges.
