For over 130 years, National Geographic has been capturing and inspiring people’s minds and curiosity through its groundbreaking storytelling from world-class scientists, adventurers, photographers and filmmakers.

Now, National Geographic is attempting to go farther than they ever have before and hope to make a positive influence on the world’s younger generation through it’s new merchandise collection “FUTURE NATURE”.

"All life is born in the harmony of infinite change, and exists in this one and only world. We must act with great respect for the future of nature on this earth.”

FUTURE NATURE is a collection of skateboards and skate merchandise made in collaboration with Element Skateboards, with the desire to bring people together through skateboarding, art and nature.

The wish is that the items will make people more aware of nature and, through close up images of a variety of creatures, the brands hope that the boards will evoke a message of the importance of life.

A portion of the money made from sales will be used to support National Geographic’s activities in a variety of different fields, such as nature, science, adventure and collection.

FUTURE NATURE skateboards and merchandise will be available to purchase as part of a pre-sale at all 14 JOURNAL STANDARD stores across Japan as well as at two pop-up stores in Harajuku and Shibuya until to April 9.

The FUTURE NATURE collection also includes a variety of other skate merchandise, such as t-shirts, caps and jumpers. Each item is made with the environment in mind and uses high-performance recycled fiber from REPREVE®, a pioneer in recycling, which has been recycling over 4 billion plastic bottles since 2009.

In addition to the release of FUTURE NATURE, National Geographic will be holding a special exhibition of photographs showing endangered species at JOURNAL STANDARD, Shibuya Scramble Square store until April 9. The exhibition is part of National Geographic’s Initiative for Earth Day, an international day for people to think about the Earth.
