There is actually a DIN norm for shredders, but this one does not fit in any category.

Level 4 = 2 x 15 mm particles (Commercially Sensitive)

Level 5 = 0.8 x 12 mm particles (Top Secret or Classified)

Level 6 = 0.8 x 4 mm particles (Top Secret or Classified)

(Level 1 - 3 are none cross-blade shredders)

....also, any paper shredder accepts paper vertically or horizontally that I know of. Hell, even if you put the paper in diagonally, any paper shredder will shred it. And what are the other 5 safety features?

... seems this new shredder is a Level 5 shredder, what would justify its price.

Most shredders do not accept all the staples in paper we receive though.

9 square millimetres sounds about right to me. 2mm wide and 4.5mm long. That's huge in your book? I feel sorry for the tiny rice you have to eat.
