Ricoh compact digital camera

Ricoh has a new high sensitivity compact digital camera with optimal setting for every situation. With improved noise elimination, the CX3 offers high definition images for nighttime or indoor scenes where lighting is poor.

New features include an automatic switching function to a setting that is optimal for the recording condition. The imaging sensor has newly adopted the backside illuminated CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor). The CMOS is more receptive to light due to the wiring placed under the light receiving section. Clear images can be taken in dark areas.

The camera features a 28 mm wide angle, 10.7x optical zoom lens with effective resolution of about 10 million pixels.

Retail price is expected to be in the 45,000 yen range.

Amerijap - Ricoh are a quality compact camera maker, hence the price. "You get what you pay for". If you think 45,000 is expensive, you should see the price of some SLR cameras; though again, the price reflects the quality.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about. That's where I was working until ten years ago. They are one of the top-notch manufacturers cornering the market share not just in digital-camera, but also in office equipments such as laser printers, multi-function copiers, faxes, and portable computer hardware and software. Since, Japan is a country where many consumers are looking for a taste of high-tech savvy, most new products are usually gonna be pricy compared to Europe and North America.
