RULO robot vacuum by Panasonic

Panasonic has releaed the MC-RS520, the newest model in its RULO robot vacuum cleaner series. The RULO vacuum has a unique triangular shape that enables it to squeeze into tight corners of a room where dust accumulates the most.

RULO vacuum cleaners are equipped with laser, ultrasonic waves and infrared rays detecting sensors so that they spot easily missed areas like around chair legs.

The new model has also added a smartphone app service called “RULO Navi” for users to activate the cleaner from outside the home and set an automatic cleaning schedule for the robot.

No thanks. My body requires movement to stay healthy.

I set my roomba to clean the living room while I'm out taking the dogs for their morning walk. I get exercise and a clean living room, plus two healthy, happy dogs.

Life is way too short to waste it removing dust and dog hairs from the floor.

If a machine can do it, then let it.

I've got better things to do with my time.

Cleaning robots have come on by leaps and bounds since they first came on the market. Used to be that a day's worth of dog hair would totally clog up the brushes, leading to engine burnout; the latest models can cope with the pet hair, and can be set to work on a schedule, and even to empty themselves.

My wife has a robot cleaner but she calls me anata! Also I sing when cleaning, usually rock and roll. Do the other robot models do that too?

Incredibly noisy, these things. I hate ours. Two motors: one to suck and one to move. And the wife won't use it when nobody's at home, in case 'he' gets stuck behind the sofa or topples off the genkan step. So we have to put up with the row, instead....

That's why it's a good idea to start it up when you go out.

If you roomba-proof the room (pick stuff up off the floor, tidy cables etc., away), there's no need to worry about it getting stuck, and they're supposedly smart enough to avoid falling off precipices.....

Is it like iRobot's Roomba that sends a map of your home back to the manufacturer?

I guess some people are happy to share every detail of their lives with the corporate world.

To be honest, I think ours is a bit on the ESN spectrum.

Maybe it can be programmed to play music while you sit there and watch it work. On its songlist might be 'Mr. Roboto' by Styx. Then when the cleanup work is done you can tell it 'Domo arigato'.

My roomba certainly isn't that hi-tech - it's an older model, and it does the job it's supposed to do, so I have no excuse to update to one with bells and whistles. (It would be nice not to have to empty it out every day).

According to your link, iRobot only takes your info if you allow them to: It is possible to use our smart technology Robots without WiFi or Bluetooth data transmission, simply by disconnecting your WiFi or Bluetooth from the device or by never connecting it at all.

Just say No?

I think ours is a bit on the ESN spectrum.

Have you had it serviced? Mine refused to release the side brush thingy so that I couldn't clean inside, I sent it in to get the screw replaced and the whole thing deep-cleaned, and they sent me back my old battery with a whole new roomba around it.
