Sharp has put on sale a new LCD TV AQUOS model of the D-series. The newly developed image processing LSI (large-scale integration) improves image quality such as enhanced clarity in fast-moving images. The D-series is equipped with access to Internet services and is the only model that allows users to watch Yahoo programs.

The price is open. The actual retail price is expected to be approximately 250,000 yen for the 40-inch model and 450,000 yen for the 52-inch one. Eco-points, the government program to promote the purchase of energy-efficient electrical appliances, can be earned for any D-series models, making the product more marketable to thrifty consumers.

I just saw Beat Takeshi introducing reality TV from Mexico in which the contestants had to pick up live scorpions in their mouths, and I must say that Japanese TV programming makes me nostalgic for the good old days of black and white.
