Sept 1 is the anniversary of the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake, as well as Bosai no hi (“Disaster Prevention Day”) in Japan. COGIT co Ltd, ann Osaka company selling household products, has released new slippers that can be used both in a daily and emergency setting.
The slippers are easy to wear and easy to wash with the ends curling up to fit your ankles like a sock. They also passed a Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) test for safety shoes and protect your feet from glass, bolts, and other dangerous material.
Because of their compact nature, the slippers are easy to take along in case of a disaster.
The slippers come in sizes M and L, and cost 1,800 yen a pair.
Available at hardware stores around Japan.
