In the past few weeks, Japan has gone from issuing the first-ever megaquake warning to roughing out its 10th typhoon. With parts of the country experiencing blackouts, flooding and landslides, it’s essential to stay prepared now more than ever.
Building a basic emergency kit is simple enough: make sure you have enough food and water to last for at least a few days, along with flashlights, batteries and a first aid kit. While we don’t know when the next disaster might strike, it’s always good to stay prepared and have an evacuation plan.
Top off your emergency kit with a displayable disaster helmet by BEAMS and Saibou Park. The helmet is as functional as it is cute. It has passed the national certification for protection against flying/falling objects and electrical work, and it also comes with air lights and is well-ventilated.
Available for ¥8,800 at Saibou Park stores and the Isetan Mitsukoshi online store.

Let's see. It's an emergency, everyone is fearful for their lives or worried about how they will cope, but, hey, you have a cute helmet.

It is very expensive for a helmet when people can use their cycle ones.

The blue one looks good. It is probably tougher than a bike helmet but either way, if I'm buried in a building I'd be easier to find. Here in the US I have a baseball hitters helmet. And I would be easier to find because of it's colors. That blue one. . .well, it looks better anyway.
