Shizuoka-based designer Kouichi Okamoto blurs the line between practicality and high art, adding a healthy dash of surrealism for good measure. We’re still trying to wrap our noggins around some of the dazzling works displayed on the website for his company, Kyouei Design. In the meantime, we’ll just chug contentedly on the Glass Tank—described, without any unnecessary rhetorical flourishes, as “a glass for drinking a lot.” Why, bien sur. Though its topsy-turvy styling might seem like a recipe for major spillage, the wonders of air and water pressure combine to ensure that the reservoir won’t flow out any faster than you can drink it. Which, er, might take a while.
Glass Tank, 29,800 yen. Available at select boutiques and via www.kyouei-ltd.co.jp
