Try these Date Masamune inspired glasses

Japanese history buffs are no strangers to Date Masamune. Known as the founder of Sendai, Date Masamune came from an esteemed line of feudal lords from Japan’s sengoku jidai (warring states period). In childhood, he’s said to have lost vision in one eye due to a case of smallpox, which led to his nickname of dokuganryu or “One-Eyed Dragon of Oshu.” He’s remembered not only for his skills as a tactician but also as a legendary samurai (warrior). Aside from that, Date Masamune is also known for his crescent moon helmet.

If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind souvenir, then this pair of glasses might just be right up your alley. Inspired by Date Masamune, the glasses come with his signature crescent moon accent and a blacked-out right eye. More for form over function, it’s something that’ll definitely remind you of your travels to Japan and the legendary samurai it was inspired after.

The Date Megane (Date Glasses) are set to go on sale at the end of the month around Sendai, Matsushima and select souvenir stores for ¥800.

This would be a great souvenir, with the story behind it to tell friends about. Sure wouldn't want them as me everyday glasses. Great story, though.
