Most fans of mega hit anime and manga series "One Piece" have, at one point or another, debated the pros and cons of eating an akuma no mi, or Devil Fruit--the mysterious fruits found in the series that grant those who eat them incredible powers at the cost of the ability to swim.
Now fans can sink their teeth into a Devil Fruit without needing fear the sea. Japanese specialty cake store has released a new tasty-looking Devil Fruit cake based on Monkey D. Luffy's Gomu Gomu no Mi, or Gum Gum Fruit--which grants those who eat it to become a rubber human.
The cake cleverly uses Cake.jp's incredibly popular Marugoto Melon Cake. Marugoto means "whole" or "entire" in Japanese, and the cake uses a whole musk melon that reveals delicious filling when cut open.
In this case, the musk melon's outside is colored purple and recreates the appearance of the Devil Fruit down to its very distinct pattern. The inside is filled with homemade fluffy sponge cake, melon-flavored whipped cream, muskmelon pulp, and strawberries carefully layered in a mille-feuille shape.
Priced at 13,000 yen, the cake can be ordered online from Cake.jp.
