Must be primary season. Time for RINO and DINO open season? (for those living in a better world, RINO/DINO stands for Republican/Democrat In Name Only). Closely followed by a copious use of the accusation, "hypocrite."
Purity matters, right?

There's something really wrong with this country. It has the highest incarceration rate in the world (25% of the world's incarcerated) and yet has one of the worst crime rates. I think the government should concentrate on its own problems rather than causing trouble in other countries. Yes, mid-term elections soon where tweedle dee will fight tweedle dum and nothing will get done in the end. Popcorn out. Beer ready.

Yes, the Americans do have a significant problem with their guns, effectively addressing increasing crime in various states and with individual police appropriately using resources & techniques in an effective manner that consistently insures public safety for all citizens.
That being said, the sincerity and concern for shooting victims in your post here appears somewhat disingenuous. - Weren’t you just participating in somewhat inappropriate gun ‘humor’ bantering with another user in another thread about hostage standoff and fatal shooting in today’s local news?

Quite the contradiction....
The party that says it's for "law and order"....
Routinely denigrates the FBI and our counter-intel agencies...
Supports pardons for indicted criminals...
Defends the violent terrorists that put 140 Capitol Police officers in the hospital...
And, who's most popular figure is currently under four separate criminal investigations...
Very telling...

Hero syndrome:
"Let everyone play with guns so that we can show how tough we are on crimes."

None.
Apparently, you didn't see the astounding lies that came out of Myorka's mouth yesterday at the hearings on the border and immigration crisis. The bad thing about the man is, lying comes to him naturally and he wasn't even about to listen to any of the facts about the disaster he and his department has created, instead, he just carries on and hopes the nation believes his lies and not the images we all see play out on TV.
Liberals won't even arrest criminals, just look at every major big city in the US.

After failing to secure a guilty verdict in Trump’s impeachment trial, Democrats in July set up the January 6 committee as the primary political vehicle for investigating the Capitol attack. But critics say the panel has moved too quietly and slowly in its work. The result, they argue, is that the party is running out of time to uncover new information that might make the threat to democracy a big issue in the run-up to November’s midterm elections. If Republicans were to regain the House of Representatives, they would be able to scrap the committee altogether.
That will result again in nothing.

Americans do not seem to be too interested in giving prisoners any kind of skills they can use when they leave, or addressing the many psychological problems, educational shortcomings and addictions that are among the causes of their criminal behaviors. It's all about retribution and getting even, making prisons as harsh as possible as a deterrent (it isn't, criminals think they will never be caught) while giving no thought to the person who emerges from prison at the end of their sentence. Unless a prisoner is in for life, they are going to complete their sentence at some point and re-join the community. Out of sheer self interest one would think an intelligent society would do what it can to solve the psychological problems, educational shortcomings, anger management or whatever other shortcomings led the individual to engage in crime instead of being law abiding so the person emerges from prison a better person instead of what too often happens, the prisoner is released from prison even harder and meaner than they were when they were imprisoned.

A continuation of British gun culture dating back to before the establishment of the USA.
With violent crime increasing in many parts of the U.S., Republicans see a winning strategy in portraying Democrats as soft on crime ahead of this year's elections.
There is no need to portray Democrats soft in crime.
Just publish current factual crime data.
