Indeed. That is why an absolutest position must be taken that at least no money for hostages will be given. Prisoner exchanges might be a slightly different matter because the terrorist regimes can't demand more prisoners than we have. Might be worthwhile to codify into law that states declared hostage takers face complete sanctions, though.

So glib, so easy to say until it is someone you love who is the hostage.

Of course it is different to you when you are the one suffering and even worse if for some reason you actually did everything right and weren't disobeying your State Department's warnings. It is also true, though, that the needs of 330 million outweigh the needs of the the one. Your release for cash may mean that 10 others are abducted.

Once you give in to the terrorists as this pathetic administration once again has capitulated to, this is the result, so what’s now to stop them or other hostile regimes towards the US from kidnapping more Americans, this sham deal has now given these regimes a green light to take Americans whenever they want extort the US, other regimes will follow. You don’t award bad behavior with more bad behavior. Now they know and see the U.S. as weak and this probably won’t be the last time a US citizen will be kidnapped especially if they know they can handsomely prohibit from it.

Like Trump making a deal with the Taliban to release 5,000 of their terrorists.

Then Biden gave them M4s with full accessories, JLTVs, AH-1s, and Bagram AB.

Also Trump had a hand in that, but you will note that we won't be seeing them on our shores anytime soon.

You know what makes us look even more weak: surrendering in Ukraine without making a good fight of it.
