5 types of threat – how those who want to divide us use language to stoke violence

Or, the Repub and far-right media playbook to foster outrage, fear, and violence in their low-educated, easily manipulated base....to gain political power and the ultimate goal - to fleece them out of all of their money...

Former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens parroted this sentiment in a campaign ad while he was seeking the Republican nomination for a U.S. Senate seat. In the ad, Greitens called for allies to “Get a RINO (Republican in Name Only) hunting permit. There’s no bagging limit. No tagging limit. And it doesn’t expire – until we save our country.”

Just one example of the parade of Repub pols using violent imagery and posing with guns in their ads...

And is it no wonder we see far-right MAGA terrorists planning to kidnap and execute the Michigan Gov, attack FBI offices with assault weapons, take hammers to 82 year old senior citizens, and fire guns into the houses of Dem candidates...

Far-right MAGA terrorism has surpassed Islamic fundamentalism as the No. 1 domestic threat our country faces today...

Did anyone else notice that 'the bad people' in the article are exclusively enemies of political left?

So all the vitriol against people who chose to avoid getting a covid vaccine was 'threatoric' under your own guidelines, but I doubt she'd care because she obviously favours left wing politics judging from her twitter page and for some reason they turned it into a profane sacrament.

Let's see. The Right attacks the morality of LGBTQIA and accuses them of grooming and sexually exploiting children. This has resulted in numerous pieces of legislation targeting LGBTQIA rights, and a rise in hate crimes.

The left says people should get vaccinated, and vehemently argues that vaccines are important and safe (they are). This has resulted in a lot of arguments on the internet.

Gee. Who are the violent ones? I can't tell... eye roll

Yeah, because those people are the enemy of humanity.

Did anyone else notice that 'the bad people' in the article are exclusively enemies of political left?

Yes.

I had fun looking at the sub-headings and guessing to whom "they" referred in each one.

Yes.

I'm all for looking into the way we are brainwashed and controlled by the manipulation of language, and the huge majority of this manipulation is coming from the globalist left/liberal elites. Let's take the imposition of the now ubiquitous word 'gender'. When I was a kid it was used for Latin, French and German, etc. nouns. Now they've decided it applies to humans too. The correct word - sex (male or female) - is being phased out and this meaningless 'gender' is now enforced everywhere, even on government forms. It's an entirely fictional concept which simply doesn't have any scientific meaning. Did we ever get a choice in this?

I think some of us non-Americans will be wondering what you mean by "political left".

I guess we're from different countries. When I was a kid, some forms used "sex" and others used "gender". I think there became a preference for "gender" when a number of boys would write "Yes please" against the sex question.

five basic types of threatoric.

All of which are used when talking about Russia or China.

That's a problem though, 'vehemently arguing' for something that isn't true:

It doesn't matter what the truth is, as long as it "feels" true. That trumps everything else and justifies some absolutely abhorrent behaviour by the very people the author of this article supports.

Events like the riots in Brazil

I as born, raised in Brazil. Jair Bolsonaro, ex-military, was elected president not for his qualities, but, as a protest vote against the previous party, PT (Workers Party) that had several corruption cases. Bolsonaro had a long record of hate speeches, like "fuzilar a petralhada" (shoot, execute with a machine gun the PT party members), he declared that his bedside book was "A verdade sufocada" (the suffocated truth) of coronel Ulstra, a well-known torturer during the Brazilian Military Dictatorship, in an interview declared that the military mistake was not to execute more people during their regime. He also declared that he would prefer his son to die than being gay, and made a racist speech against Black people, that some are so overweighted that had to be weighted as cattle (arroba). Along four years daily hate speeches against the opposition, against the Supreme Court judges, against the press, especially rudeness with women journalists, made laws allowing people to have up to 60 firearms each with unlimited ammunition, and so on. So, the worst side of all people was awakened and unfortunately, we have a divided nation, with growing violence, not only verbal, but physically. Words become reality.

Our resident right-wing posters are right to be outraged, this strips them down to the illogical drones that they are. Naturally they'll blame the left for all the misery in their own lives instead of looking at their own lack of critical thinking.

Their comments here can be considered part of the study, it should help scholars in years to come to understand how an an entire mass of people could be so illogical despite the increased access to information.

Did anyone else notice that 'the bad people' in the article are exclusively enemies of political left?

Yes.

For example, in-groups sometimes use disease to paint the out-group as a threat to the in-group’s physical well-being.

Right. “The unvaccinated are killing us” crowd.

This reads like one of those parody studies that Pluckrose, Lindsay and Boghassian wrote

Indeed.

Did anyone else notice that 'the bad people' in the article are exclusively enemies of political left?

Yeah, because those people are the enemy of humanity.

Strangerland isn’t prone to exaggeration? Even a teeny weeny bit?

The real crime is that far-left pseudo-academic twaddle like this article even gets posted outside a cloistered university environment. As some others above have said, it basically identifies anyone centre and right as dangerous threats using some of the weakest straw men ever put to print.

But she completely ignores dangerous threats like Antifa thugs who go on violent rampages, smashing up people and properties (or trying to) that hurt their feelings. The ideologues who want to defund the police but fail to foresee the obvious results. And especially the teachers who see children as targets for passing on their personal leftist ideologies while failing to teach the basics of literacy and numeracy, resulting in some awfully poor educational outcomes - especially for the underprivileged kids they claim to be fighting for.

Distrust of academia and scientific research, check.

As some others above have said, it basically identifies anyone centre and right as dangerous threats using some of the weakest straw men ever put to print.

A straw man fallacy to attempt to prove a straw man fallacy. Genius.

And especially the teachers who see children as targets for passing on their personal leftist ideologies while failing to teach the basics of literacy and numeracy

And another straw man moments later. 'Targets' eh? The Khmer Rouge would find a place for you in their ranks. This is good stuff.

You are doing a great job of showing what an accurate study H Colleen Sinclair has worked on. All you need to do now is find out where she lives / instagrams and threaten her a bit for the study to be complete.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Distrust of academia and scientific research, check.

No, just ridicule of "research" with a political bias so obvious that it can't be taken seriously. I have plenty of confidence in research that goes on in the physical sciences in cases where the experiments are repeatable. This nonsense just takes a conclusion she'd reached beforehand and works backwards from there.

A straw man fallacy to attempt to prove a straw man fallacy. Genius.

Did you completely miss the obvious slant in the article?

And another straw man moments later. 'Targets' eh? The Khmer Rouge would find a place for you in their ranks. This is good stuff.

Are you denying that plenty of teachers like this exist? Not all of course, but there are plenty of them, especially in government schools. Much less so in private schools where parents pay fees directly and expect decent results. My brother and a good friend are both teachers and a bit to the left of me, and they are both dismayed at the quality of curricula from my home state's education department, complaining of the left-wing bias in English, history, economics and the like. They're at private schools and wouldn't be caught dead at government schools due to the heavy influence of the socialist-left education union.

You are doing a great job of showing what an accurate study H Colleen Sinclair has worked on. All you need to do now is find out where she lives / instagrams and threaten her a bit for the study to be complete.

You really are grasping at straws to try and paint me as some evil right-winger. LOL! Why would I want to threaten her? Cancellation is a tactic of the intolerant left, not mine. Much more fun to bring this joke of a study to public attention and have a good ol' laugh at it, for that's all it's worth.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

she completely ignores dangerous threats like Antifa thugs who go on violent rampages

Because they're not the real threat. Antifa isn't even an organization, it's a mantle people take up if they so choose, there is no grouping to it, no meetings, it's not like a left-wing version of the Proud Boys or Oathkeepers. It's someone whose sick of the establishment, that does something and says 'I'm antifa'.

That's why the FBI classify right-wing extremist groups to be the biggest domestic threat in America right now.

Not all right wingers are violent extremists, but the overwhelming majority of violent extremists are right-wingers.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Yeah nothing at all called Antifa, right?

“Antifa protesters in Atlanta are calling for 'Night of Rage' against cops after shooting near training facility dubbed 'Cop City' left one man dead and a state trooper injured”

1 ( +4 / -3 )

This nonsense just takes a conclusion she'd reached beforehand and works backwards from there.

You have proof of this? Because you assume that something you don't agree with is written by someone in the 'out group'

Did you completely miss the obvious slant in the article?

In-group think. It's uncomfortable for you to read what is written about you, must be written by the out-group. You assumed this before you read it. A conclusion you reached beforehand and worked backwards from there.

Are you denying that plenty of teachers like this exist?

Yes. Teachers don't 'target' kids. You're just a Fox News tool at this point. And they don't not teach them reading & writing, demonstrated by the fact that academically 'The Left' is far better at these than 'The Right'. What are right wing teachers 'targetting' their students with? Obviously not the things you think they should be.

You really are grasping at straws to try and paint me as some evil right-winger. LOL!

A bit more straw man to end it. I did no such thing. I can tell that you feel a bit uncomfortable and angry by the LOL! People use it as a defense mechanism, trying to appear amused when really they are rattled.

You've proven what was written in this article is pretty accurate. The out-group can use you I think.

I do not say anything, that I cannot legally back up in a court of law, sometimes people cannot handle the truth

“Antifa protesters in Atlanta are calling for 'Night of Rage' against cops after shooting near training facility dubbed 'Cop City' left one man dead and a state trooper injured”

As I said:

Antifa isn't even an organization, it's a mantle people take up if they so choose, there is no grouping to it, no meetings, it's not like a left-wing version of the Proud Boys or Oathkeepers.

Some guys who are antifa called for that.

Thing is, it turned out that the majority of the people in 2020 who claimed to be antifa, were actually far-right extremists running false flag operations.

Then they tried to overthrow their government just six months later.

Right-wing extremists are the biggest threat to humanity that currently exists. Their nihilism is toxic, and their "simple" solutions only create more complex problems.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

sometimes people cannot handle the truth

Some people can handle the truth. Google some people can handle the truth.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Deeeeeeeflection!

the majority of the people in 2020 who claimed to be antifa,

No there are Antifa. Just shot a policeman in Atlanta as far leftists who are part of Antifa.

if it’s that easy, then some FBI agents and assets falsely called themselves patriots and trump supporters and incited a riot.

Ray is no Trump supporter. if he was he would be in jail awaiting trial.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

No there are Antifa.

Yeah, that's what I keep saying:

Antifa isn't even an organization, it's a mantle people take up if they so choose, there is no grouping to it, no meetings, it's not like a left-wing version of the Proud Boys or Oathkeepers.

Anyone who says they are antifa is antifa.

Unlike the oath-keepers and proud boys and all the other dozens of far-right extremist organizations, antifa isn't an organization. It's just a self-chosen label.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Ray is no Trump supporter. if he was he would be in jail awaiting trial.

Non sequitur.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Anyone who says they are antifa is antifa.

Nope. have to “join” antifa on the Facebook group, or the instagram or the Twitter or the mastodon accounts. Then you are a member.

the Atlanta group is called Treehouse Antifa and Portland group is Rose City Antifa, as examples. Web sites and everything.

how do non group affiliated people have group names?

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Non sequitur.

Why isn’t he in Jail? Most visible “trump supporter” of them all!

Day of and even day before.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

“Rose City Antifa (RCA) is an antifascist group founded in 2007 in Portland, Oregon.[1] A leftist group,[2]it is the oldest known active antifa group in the United States.[3][4]”

somebody better inform the Internet. Says “group”. And “founded”.

People aren’t “founded”.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Wow, you found one small group. I’ll raise you a proud boys and an oath keepers, with a violent insurrection to overthrow the government.

Sorry, we’re you trying to pretend an equivalency here?

There is no bigger threat to America right now than right wing extremists in America. No matter how much you try to deflect it, the FBI has been clear about that.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Those kind of statements would be much more powerful after entering the US legally or illegally, and gaining citizenship after several years.

Now, they just ring out like a hollow, ripped from a CNN headline "that must explain everything in America" rant.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Lots of these right wing crazies, are just expressing their insecurities, because lots of them have not evolved psychologically, the leadership of CPAC and Justice Kavanaugh friend has been accused of groping a man Google Schlaap Groping

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Our resident right-wing posters are right to be outraged, this strips them down to the illogical drones that they are.

And the radical left posters are?

Naturally they'll blame the left for all the misery in their own lives instead of looking at their own lack of critical thinking.

The border, the growing debt, out of control crime, wokeness, defunding the police, forcing transgender men to shower with women, pushing racial issues, these are issues the left have made.

Their comments here can be considered part of the study,

ditto.

it should help scholars in years to come to understand how an an entire mass of people could be so illogical despite the increased access to information.

ditto.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Yes. Teachers don't 'target' kids.

https://thefederalist.com/2023/01/10/minnesota-will-soon-make-teachers-endorse-child-mutilation-to-get-a-license/

You're just a Fox News tool at this point. And they don't not teach them reading & writing, demonstrated by the fact that academically 'The Left' is far better at these than 'The Right'.

So why are parents taking their kids out of public schools at an increasing rate?

https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/careersandeducation/school-enrollment-number-of-students-in-public-schools-drops-as-parents-turned-to-home-schooling-private-schools-during-pandemic/ar-AA165SQE

What are right wing teachers 'targetting' their students with? Obviously not the things you think they should be.

It would seem academics is not on their first priority list.
