That green was, well, a color

What's this one supposed to mean?

MMORPG and TORRENT are omitted for some reasons?

Well that's about the story of one American discovering her world... Good to see we were spared a number of horrors here in Japan.

For me "skype" was a big change.

Remember when you did not have to take off your shoes before getting on a plane?

I'm showing my age, but no, I don't remember. During the said "Cold War", there was already the same circus in US airports.

acupuncture to herbal supplements

Eh ? What's new in the last 1000 yrs ? Probably my first drink as a baby, after mother's milk was herb tea. Idem for yoga (I started decades ago).

thepro-- It means how now we hear "green" and we think of "going green", which is explained in the list.

PIRACY should be on this list, haha.

I especially like the going green and the networking very much. I could just get to know someone half the globe away. Its the lost of words that I'm afraid of.

"Wardrobe malfunction" should be on here.Remember Janet flashing a titty on a Sunday ? That coined the popular expression.

"Remember when you did not have to take off your shoes before boarding a plane? Remember when you could bring a bottled drink aboard?"

Yes. Then again I also remember when a dollar bought 240 yen.

Thepro,

It is because everything now is supposed to be "green" the word green is used more to describe how environmentally friendly something is,rather then the color.

Somebody better tell these "journalists" that the "Decade" they're implying (e.g. the first decade of the twenty first century) doesn't end until the END of 2010. Of course, the way the word "decade" has been thrown around, it's not really specified, meaning that they could theoretically have all these "in the past decade" stories every single year and still be technically correct.

Green is the traditional color of Islam. 2001 was The Year of the Snake. Try connection between Yukio Mishima's 'green snake' prediction and the 9/11 incident as in "The Year of the Green Snake: The Year of Serendipity" by Thomas Justin Kaze.

bamboohat,

Technically you're correct, but people don't separate it that way. They separate by, for example, 80's (1980-1989), 90's (1990-1999), and 00's (2000-2009).

"Crocs... there are websites dedicated to their destruction"

Heh.

OK, that makes sense. I didn't think of it that way. Thanks.

Happy New Year!
