Schadenfreude - Repubs stole a seat on the Supreme Court to fulfill their long dream of overturning Roe vs Wade - and it leads to a strings of election defeats...
And proving that stupidity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result, they continue to double-down on their extreme restrictions prohibiting an abortion even in the case of rape and incest...
Not only Dems but large numbers of Repub women are repelling by this Repub Big Government intrusion into their freedom...as evidenced by majorities in Red States supporting abortion rights...
Reproductive freedom will be the cudgel that smites the Repubs in 2024, resulting in a Blue tsunami...
opheliajadefeldt
The voters are at long last showing their collective teeth and burying these anti-democratic despots. Long may it continue until after 2024 and beyond.

No one kills babies the fetus does become a baby until born and survives on their own organs.
For women, abortion remains a strong point and Trump will not be able to ignore it.
The majority of Americans support the right to abortions.
Trump criticizes Republicans pushing abortion bans with no exceptions: 'You're not going to win'
lincolnman
What is Trump's position on abortion?
No abortion period, no exceptions?
Six weeks?
Fifteen weeks?
Third trimester?
As important the abortion issue is to Repubs, what's Trump's position?
wallace
bass4funk
Many Republicans and supporters will not leave the issue alone. You support a total ban on abortions including rape and incest. Several of the nominations support abortion bans.
TaiwanIsNotChina
Yeah, the carve out for the Supreme Court still made sense before McConnell blew it up. Still a theft of a SC justice.
wallace
Many abortion rights victories in the November elections.
lincolnman
Who?
And?
What?
Nope.
Thanks.
wallace
bass4funk
Yes, you did on hundreds of comments on abortions.
wallace
I support a woman’s right to choose. A decision between her and her doctor.
wallace
Abortion is Republican quicksand.
lincolnman
Yes...
Off-topic - Gaza and Palestine not mentioned in the article....
Off-topic - second amendment not mentioned in the article...
Because that worked so well in 2018, 2020, 2022, and this month....ROFL...
Even Trump knows it's kryptonite for Repubs - he never says what his stand is on abortion - is he for a full term ban with no exceptions for rape and incest?
funkymofo
You haven’t been paying attention.
wallace
Donald Trump called Florida's six-week abortion ban a "terrible mistake".
wallace
bass4funk
No, you didn't. You supported the Texas ban on abortions including rape and incest.
It's all in your archives.
lincolnman
Nope
BINGO! After ranting about abortion and the killing of children, you now don't care...
That's like saying you don't care about his position on the 2nd Amendment or the border....
Thanks for waving the white flag...
Was? Sounds like a surrender - you know you can't win on the issue. But it will be on the ballot in 24 and Repubs can't hide from their extreme position - as we saw in multiple Red States, Repub women won't let them...
wallace
The Governor Abbott of Texas said there was no rape in Texas so no need for an abortion exception.
lincolnman
So a key Repub issue and value - in your words "the killing of children", is abandoned just because you can't win on it.
So much for having the strength of their convictions, wonder what else are they going to roll over on?
We know one already - democracy...
You've said it multiple times - it's all in your archive...
Try again...
lincolnman
Once again, off-topic - read the first two words in the title...
Yet you said above Repubs caved on abortion...
Tell that to Powell, Cheseboro, Ellis, and Meadows...
No limits - your words...
lincolnman
Two things we learned in this thread...
Repubs think abortion is killing children but they don't care what Trump's position on that is...kind'a like they don't care what his position on the vaccine is...even though they think it's poison...
They now recognize that reproductive freedom is what most Americans want, even Repub women, so rather than stick to their convictions, they are jettisoning it...
Common sense gun control is popular too - just a matter of time before they jettison their extreme 2nd Amendment position...
The weak-willed "cut and run" Repubs...
wallace
bass4funk
you no longer support the Texas total abortion ban or the ones in the other 23 Republican states.
wallace
bass4funk
You can disagree but that is what medical science states. Fetuses become babies at birth.
Trump criticizes Republicans pushing abortion bans with no exceptions: 'You're not going to win'
I think all people understand the need for time limits on abortions. Banning all abortions is not a time limit.

I hate abortion, wish we didn't have it or had to. But I remember the Communist dictatorship of Romania that banned abortion and there were a lot of dead fetuses, dead babies, dead mommies and coathanger jobs in the alleys. Is that what we want for America? NO!!!!
Since the Supreme Court pulled their stunt last year there have been more mass superspreader gatherings, more Covid exposures, and LIES LIES LIES LIES LIES LIES about the issue from both sides of the fence. I am grossly sick of all that crap.
Sometimes it's a necessary evil. That 10 y/o girl who got raped would not have survived a childbirth and she is much too young for motherhood. And the same goes for some women who are raped too. Rape destroys a person, at least psychologically.
When I was in college I got to meet the grandson of Mohandas Gandhi. He said abortion is murder, taking of a life. It is. But before we can tackle that issue, how about addressing the issues of the born first?
Look at the world during the past few years. Would you want to raise a child to swear allegiance to live and work a life to serving a sassymouth puke like Putin, Kim, Trump the Chump? I wouldn't.
Funny thing is, the American public LOOOOVES war and violence. Nobody says a word about the rampant gun violence that the screaming Wayne LaPierre made possible through his lies and greed. And war is entertainment on TV. Has been since 1991. When I was in the service there was a war. I didn't kill anyone yet if I did that would be 'entertainment' for an armchair general public.
Yet they scream about babies. How about eliminating the hatred and violence that the living people face first?

14 states out of 50 have banned abortions with no exceptions for rape or incest.
Abortions and terminations are completely separate from the 2nd Amendment.
wallace
The majority of states will continue to provide abortions and the morning after pill
wallace
Abortion rights will be the difference between winning and losing. For women, it's a major issue.
wallace
Most voters are capable of dealing with all the issues and not a selective few.
Mat
Unless we want to regress back to where women were considered to be simply property of men, then males have absolutely no case to make for passing laws on how women handle their own body. If laws really must be made for this, then any male vote should invalidate the whole thing.
It's not the medieval times any more, please allow people to live as they want.
wallace
There are states which want to stop citizens going to another state for abortions.
bass4funk
Yes, I did.
I supported the ban, but I always thought there should be a window open for rape and or incest.
Of course.
bass4funk
It is.
They also want to be safe from crime and an open lawless free for all open border
The Dems had the chance to change that in 2010 and 2020 and didn’t, they knew it would kill them in the polls, for loudmouths, they’re not stupid....
The ineffective Democrats
bass4funk
No, Reid thought he was slick and his own political partisanship helped the GOP.
Children are children, but for the left it depends on which children we are talking about. Some lives to the left are more valid than others. Facts.
The left believes in the rights for one group, to kill whenever they want, it's their body, but then believes that law-abiding citizens shouldn't have the right to purchase, let alone defend themselves legally.
It did in 2011, 2015, 2016 and the House in 2022
Yes, as I have outlined earlier, the GOP should focus on the border, crime, and parents' rights, inflation and let the Dems deal with the abortion issue.
bass4funk
Doesn't matter, the left wants rules on what you and do and what you cannot. killing a fetus is ok, protecting yourself and killing someone is a crime that should be punished.
bass4funk
It absolutely did
Don't know and don't care.
Was, like Trump said, let the Dems have it and focus on crime, the border, rising food costs, the same way he did back in 2016
bass4funk
No, I said, it should be limited hundreds of times.
bass4funk
Just like Dems can’t win on crime and the border
The Dems don’t have any.or even know what that is.
The left have no leg to stand on that topic.
Yes, I’m for limited abortion
bass4funk
I wasn’t.
And now focusing on the real topics that matter
Who?
No, I said limits
bass4funk
No, never changed, always consistent on the issue
bass4funk
Well, nobody insane that they can have access to that, as long as you live in the United States, you can have access to anything you want. You are not regulate to stay in your state, whether it is outlawed or not, and if women want to get these things, they can do that, regardless of where they reside
bass4funk
Gov. Tate Reeves won a second term.

Massachusetts State Senate District Worcester/ Republican
Texas State House District 2 Special General/ Republican
Brent Money GOP
Jill Dutton GOP
Florida State House District 35
Erika Booth
So it wasn't all doom and gloom for the GOP, they did moderately decent which are very serious and crucial wins for the party going into 2024
yipyip
Another issue that will propel Trump to victory.
bass4funk
I support whatever the states want to support, the people who decide, our stated my position
bass4funk
Ok, you are allowed to take any position you want
bass4funk
Yes, they will, they said so and were advised to do so, so they will do it at a minimum not like before.
I never said that.
yipyip
And most voters do not want laws severely restricting abortion and other kinds of reproductive health care.
No they don't,
bass4funk
Thank God, they now know to just leave the issue alone, focus on the topics that most Americans deeply care about and let Abortionists do as they like
bass4funk
True, never said they can't, but at the end of the day, food, crime, the border, education are the top priorities for the majority of Americans.

bass4funk
Well, we will have to disagree, but the left wants no limits that means until if the baby is viable at birth and the mother doesn't want it, that baby is dead.
Trump was the one who said, the GOP is stupid for making this their main focus point, and as usual, he was right, the GOP needs to follow his plan like in 2016 and focus on the issues I previously outlined, because whether you support abortion or not, all women need to eat, put the case in their car and worry about crime, let the Dems run on abortion and the GOP on every other important issue that impacts all Americans daily.
And half of those do want some limited restrictions.
He's right and that is why from this week the game plan is changing for upcoming candidates to lay low on the abortion issue.
The economy, border, and crime are quicksand for the Dems.
bass4funk
And for the Americans overwhelmingly, the economy, border, crime, inflation, food prices, gas prices are THE biggest issues, because in the end, even women who want to kill babies need to eat, so at this point, Republicans should do what Trump did in 2016, bypass the abortion noise, give it to the Dems and focus squarely on the issues that affect men, women, and children.
Hmm....
No theft, just Reid doing the Mitch a huge favor.
bass4funk
No, Harry Reid blew up the filibuster. That’s what got them the the availability to get 3 conservatives on the bench.
liberals want to say every child in Gaza and the Palestinians, but they want to have the ability to abort babies, especially when it’s babies from minorities
I get it, like when Dems want to destroy the second amendment.
No, all the Republicans have to do is focus on the economy, inflation, the rise and crime, the open borders, the constant spending and spending money, overseas, homelessness, political, and if they run on, that they can block any attempts from the left, headways, and I think they realize they’re not going to focus on abortion, they shouldn’t, just focus on the issues that matter to every day, Americans, like their wallets.
