local laws, public officials and the courts were active in sustaining systemic racism in all facets of life for African Americans, despite the abolition of slavery in the 19th century.

The crime of going back on the promise of '40 acres and a mule' to freed slaves is a crime that has had a reverberating impact on American society.

It created an economic underclass.

The lack of closure on this tragedy of race relations has left an awful legacy.

How old are those freed slaves now?

They have moved on from people who never had slaves paying people who never were slaves. Now they want people whose ancestors never had slaves to pay people who ancestors never were slaves - or in some cases even owned slaves themselves.

In the end, it's all about creating division.

It really just boils down to black people in America holding out their hands and saying "give me some money for something, not too sure what exactly."

The stupidest thing that they could do. Smh...

Whites in the US have fought every attempt by African Americans to advance themselves through Jim Crow laws, segregation where facilites and public services offered African Americans were always of lower quality than those offered whites, if those services were offered at all, to discriminatory lending and insurance policies (red lining) to denial of the original promise of 40 acres and a mule. African Americans have never in US history had opportunities equal to those available to whites and as a result are behind whites economically. Not today, not ever. Add to that the fact that African American families were routinely torn apart as family members were sold off to slave owners. No other race has been made to suffer this horror. Then some brainless, snooty, bigoted white sneers that it is the fault of the African Americans that they did achieve what whites achieve.

The 500-page document details the harms suffered by descendants of enslaved people and how federal, state and local laws, public officials and the courts were active in sustaining systemic racism in all facets of life for African Americans, despite the abolition of slavery in the 19th century.

19th century . . .

Well, how about reparations provided, from the country that started the whole slave trade in America?

Pay up UK.

To a certain point, but it was also conservative Christian whites that worked with prominent black leaders to abolish Jim Crow laws.

In all serious, what can you do with a mule in todays modern America?

African Americans have never in US history had opportunities equal to those available to whites and as a result are behind whites economically.

Not today. In todays world they have every opportunity to do so, maybe the ones that live in financially strapped areas it might be more challenging for sure, but it’s not impossible with fortitude and effort. You have immigrants that come to the US with only the clothes are their backs and made something out of their lives and prospered.

Add to that the fact that African American families were routinely torn apart as family members were sold off to slave owners.

Let’s not forget a large portion of African slaves were sold to whites by other African tribes that owned slaves.

No other race has been made to suffer this horror.

Not true. The Jews, Koreans, Armenians, Yazidis, Gypsies are some of the people that have also equally suffered immensely through historical horrors of human acts of violence.

Then some brainless, snooty, bigoted white sneers that it is the fault of the African Americans that they did achieve what whites achieve.

It is their fault if they continue to blame a system that they think discriminated against them when by far some of the richest people in America are black. Yes, not every black person cannot become a LeBron James, but the opportunities are there without a doubt. The bigger problem is the left push and make blacks out to be victims and that they need white liberals to assist them in life and to help them advance in finding a career. Demonizing whites and making blacks as the victims is not helping mend race relations. The only way for blacks to break the chains of racism is to denounce the victimhood mentality, only through self-reliance, education and hard work is the key to long term prosperity.
