This is completely hopeless. How about Americans stop interfering in other countries. If people stopped hating America, that would create a more secure flying (or living) environment than anthing else. All this airline security is pretty much a distraction from the sources of the problem.

I have an idea to increase effectiveness. Time to create a class of people willing to give it up for national security. Eunuchs. Great pay. Great perks. Let them do the searching. If they find a bomb, great. If they find something else, who cares, as long as it is not "actionable" right? No harm no foul. Really.

Alternatively, we might be able to find people we could all agree on as "saints." I am thinking Fred Rogers, or some old post menopausal church lady. Alternatively, nurses? Get some old retired RNs who have seen it all so many times that they may as well be shopping for kielbasa and kittens. OR, choose anybody. I mean anybody. But they have to search 10 000 people straight. They would be so desensitized that they would stop seeing breasts after the first 300 people. As they say, if you want to lose your appetite, work in a restaurant.

OR choose one guy or gal randomly from among the passengers. They get a free ticket, but they have to search EVERYONE or NO ONE. Then they have to fly on the plane.

I would be ok with this, frankly. It would be entertaining. You could even have celebrity friskers. I have given up thinking that the process has any dignity anyway. HOT: Betty White? Bea Arthur? Steve-O, William Shatner, The Palmolive lady, Sasha Grey, Billy Crystal, Olivia Munn, Samuel Jackson NOT: Rip Taylor, Borat, McCauley Caulkin, David Duchovny, Don Cheney, Quentin Tarantino, Mr. Rogers had a delivery guy, Mr. McPheely? OK. Anybody BUT that guy.

A few years ago I went through security at JFK. A voluptuous girl in a tank top and jeans standing in front of me, immediately got the attention of three TSAs. They told her to take her shoes off, then belt, and made her walk through the metal detector three times ... all the while they looked her up and down grinning and salivating.

"You guys sure love your job, don't you?" I said. "No, no. It's all in the name of security." They smirked.
