What is the most important and fundamental of all rules of governance, is that, on the national and local level, people consent to be ruled. Nations will agree to act in tandum with other nations, and will agree to enter and exit coalitions and associations with others. BUT, no one has ever sought the consent of the people of any nation to be ruled over by the world. Or to be taxed by the world. Or for life, liberty, or property to be determined solely by the world. Until that time comes, the laws of nations and the treaties that are enacted by the nations of behalf of its citizens, can, will, and must govern.
