Yesterday, Singapore repealed a colonial-era law criminalising homosexual sex. It does not treat immigrant workers inhumanely and actively fights racism against South East Asians and South Asians. Why can't Qatar be more like Singapore?

Recently I hear about Germany buying more gas and oil from Qatar. French media is not doing enough to boycott Qatar, but then it's largest sports media network is owned by the Qataris (beIn Sports). Qatar is now claiming that the UK is racist for exposing its human rights abuses.

I read an article a while back that stated how homophobia may actually get worse in Qatar and the GCC because LGBTQ have been put on the spotlight in what is otherwise a very strict Islamic region, almost like shining a torch on the witches in a place that loves witchhunts.

That shows how much (or little) you know about Singapore.

Just go and read up on LKYs opinions about the ethnic minorities (Indians and Malays) in Singapore whom he distrusted and mostly regarded as troublemakers. Keeping a lid on racism is not the same as actively fighting racism, especially if the ruling elites themselves are responsible for perpetuating racist stereotypes to keep their grip on power.

Regarding migrant workers, agreed that SG treats them better than the Gulf but that's only because PAP wants to portray a nice and clean image of Singapore to the world.

Of the sporting spirit, George Orwell wrote: “I am always amazed when I hear people saying that sport creates goodwill between the nations, and that if only the common peoples of the world could meet one another at football or cricket, they would have no inclination to meet on the battlefield.”

Anybody remember the movie 'Rollerball' where violent sports substituted for wars?

Just like the USA likes to do, but the racist fascist Trump dictatorship promoted violence and exposed the hatred, bigotry, and social/moral/ethnical rot within America vividly, clearly and obviously to the whole world.

Every nation wants to look 'good and clean' to the world, but SG is a dystopian totalitarian nation. Dissidents and those who question get jailed on a nearby island, out of mind and out of sight. And they have a personality cult based on SG's late founder. No thanks. They can keep it.

And if you step on the grass or chew gum in public or anything 'out of line', you get savagely beaten by caning.
