The article says the CCP wants China to command the respect of the world but their leadership under Xi Jinping has earned China mostly contempt and forced nations that once viewed China favorably to become cautious, even hostile towards them. If anything the CCP is motivating China's neighbors to circle the wagons and band together in opposition to China. His drive for orthodoxy and greater central control along with his treatment of people like Jack Ma may undo much of his predecessors efforts to build China up in the eyes of the world, and could even drive off the very creative minds China needs to fully advance.

When I hear China talk rejuvenation it makes me wonder who they will genocide next.

The LAST thing China needs more of is 'rejuvenation'

'Rejuvenation'? So that Great Socialist Communistic Utopia Chairman Mao promised all those years ago, the Brave New World hasn't worked out after all, hmm?

China may well build itself into a global power, however as long as it is ruled by the CCP it will never be able to command respect from the rest of the world. The CCP can only alienate the the free world more and more as it continues to clamp down on Chinese citizens and through its influence attempt to make other countries clamp down on the freedoms of their own citizens.

The last thing the world needs is more of China, I see war soon and they won't do well, their money is accepted by most but they are hated by all.

Rejuvenation - Recreate the dominance of the Middle Kingdom, turn all of Asia into Chinese Tributary States.
Jimizo
Yep. They’ll very probably get something resembling that.
I’m no apologist for the scumbag CCP, but they changed direction after Mao. It’s still corrupt and dictatorial, but living standards have risen and they’ve preserved unity - the two things that are keeping the CCP in charge.

MAKE CHINA GREAT AGAIN!!?? Hmmm, they gonna give out hats too? Red, of course, but with little stars... Does Xi hold those t**-style Nuremberg rallies, too? Well, all we can do is hope that the average Chinese worker is smarter than the average American worker appears to be vis-á-vis political criminalism. Somehow, 'rejuvenation' sounds different to them, huh? Or was it t**'s success with that same dumb idea...?

so was another world leader (about 80 years ago)
but that didn’t end too well for him or his country

All these anti-China rants are ignorant and boring.
We've just witnessed 4 years of the most gut churning, immoral ugliness from Trump. Looking back over the post WW2 years, we can see several cases of the US orchestrating the overthrow of legitimate rulers around the world whose opinions on certain issues were deemed "unacceptable" (Chile, Iran etc.).
What China does to its ethnic minorities is horrible, but the idea that the US is on higher moral ground is laughable.
What is needed is honest dialogue between countries, mutual respect, finding common ground etc. Everyone has faults. It's one planet. We have to learn to get along. As it says in the the bible (so I've heard) "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone".

And that gives Communist nations like China their excuses. They claim to offer a better way. They claim to have an alternative to 'imperialism'. They claim to honor and offer that great socialistic classless society that Marx theorized about, but they don't. They never have. If Marx were living today he wouldn't recognize what's been done in his name. He theorized that his revolution would be worldwide and that 'the state would wither away'.

*****CORRECTION****
And that gives Communist nations like China their excuses. They claim to offer a better way. They claim to have an alternative to 'imperialism'. They claim to honor and offer that great socialistic classless society that Marx theorized about, but they don't. They never have. If Marx were living today he wouldn't recognize what's been done in his name. He theorized that his revolution would be worldwide and that 'the state would wither away'.
That means there would be no USSR, no CCP, no Castro Cuba, no Communist Vietnam, no Communist Laos. One world, no economic or social classes, no political elites. The 'dictatorship of the proletariate' would be a transition to this only. And all the talk (and action) that the CCP is doing now only shows that they ain't been truly following Marx's ideals or theory in the first place. They just give the rhetoric of failure.

Sometimes this software reverses the bolding...!

Look at that pinting of Tiannamen Square with that huge portrait of Chairman Mao. How about doing some real rejuvenating by getting rid of the personality cult of that murderous dictator chump?

China despite its shortcoming are investing a lot in futuristic industry, like Japan after ww2. If this continues, China will become even more of a power house. Japan on the other hand is just on "maintenance" mode. As much as I dislike Xi, he's a capable and strong leader, compare that to Japan, very disappointing.

You can respect that one’s might and power even while not respecting their morality.
