I'm pretty sure that the main reason Trump pulled out of the Paris Accord was because of his obsession with anything that has Obama's hand print on it.  Although his actions are devestating for the USA'a global standing and trustworthiness he does not care in the least.  He has undone an Obama achievement in the same way he means to deprive 23 million Americans of health care just as long as he can destroy something Obama created.

But I do see a situation arising where his pulling out of the accord where Trump may become maginalised in the US because so many large corporations and many, many states will stick with the Paris Accord.  No doubt he will also call them, as he has done with the press, "enemies of the people" (a deeply disturbing term that you would normally associate with dictatorships) and try to take punitive action against them.  His pulling out of the Accord is such a short sighted and stupendously stupid action that it will, in my opinion, cause him more trouble and strife then he could imagine.  But then Trump does not really think things through, does he?

Every successful investor knows its a far better option to go against the herd - Trump isn't being conned by the Global Change Rort and is getting out before it becomes a burden on Western Countries.

America First seems to becoming America uber alles, under Trump's disasterous stewardship.

Trump isn't being conned by the Global Change Rort and is getting out before it becomes a burden on Western Countries.

Oh, ok then. America has no evidence that Climate change is happening...

(since Trump had it all deleted)

Me too!

Me, I'm betting that the Earth is flat. And that fossil fuel resources are infinite. And that global warming is a Chinese hoax. And that Obama was born in Kenya. And that trickle-down economics really works!

It was always clear that he has no diplomacy skills, that diplomacy is something he doesn't have the least scrap of interest in anyway.

How much damage is he going to do to the US's alliances, treaties, standing in the International community, etc etc by the time he is done though? Where is he going to leave them?

The US are basically going through this process of flipping the bird at the rest of the world. That's an arrogant, silly thing to do for a country that is hardly the world's most popular superpower, globally speaking.

My gut feeling is that it will not end well for the US. In an age where we are more globally connected than ever before, this is very counter to the global Zeitgeist.

Of course "America First" means "America alone". Was there ever any doubt? "America First" is a fascist slogan. Fascist countries are by nature solitary ones. They might forge temporary military alliances like the Axis did in WWII, but these are always distant connections - tight alliances which allow each country to have obligations to each other is the antithesis of what a fascist leader desires, total control of their nation.

Trump has failed so far to institute a fascist takeover of the US, but from the beginning it is clear that that was his intent, especially with Bannon as his adviser.

You must not be a successful investor then, because no, that's not what every successful investor knows. Every successful investor knows to get a good return on your investment. There are times when defying convention will get a good ROI, but anyone trying to pretend the complexities of figuring out what will make money and what won't can be reduced to a pithy aphorism is going to waste money foolishly and inefficiently.

Pulling out of the Paris Accord is in no way good for business. There is no evidence-based argument to make that case. In fact, there is strong counter-evidence that getting on board with sustainable development is at worst economically-neutral in the long run for post-industrial economies like the US's and Europe's. Just look at British Columbia, which instituted a carbon tax and as a result its economy grew faster than its neighbors while cutting its greenhouse emissions.

"The rest of the world will question whether the United States can be trusted,"

This shouldn't be the first time.

"I'm pretty sure that the main reason Trump pulled out of the Paris Accord was because of his obsession with anything that has Obama's hand print on it."

You hit the nail on the head with this one. I look at points from both sides. If someone has something that can be improved upon, great. If you have something totally better. Go for it! Be it Dem or Rep. But Trump Care and Trump Climate are not it.

Same thing when he relaxed Michelle Obama's lunch rules. Why would you take away something that was designed to help people, kids most of all. Why take away health care that helps the majority of the people? And why take the initiative to make the world better not only for us, but our children and grand children?

There is no reason for it, except GREED and pettiness. And people still blindly follow Trump even after he screws them over as well in the short and long term...

You speak truth, brother.

We've reached a point in political discourse (at least in the U.S.) where sides are predominantly chosen based on self-interest rather than on the betterment of society as a whole. It's time to realize (again) that when we demonize, scapegoat, or screw over people simply because they are not like us, we are in big trouble. And we are in big trouble.

Echoing his pre-predecessor GW's "Bushisms," Donald comes out with this one: ""We don't want other countries laughing at us anymore and they won't," Trump declared. "I was elected to represent the citizens of Pittsburgh, not Paris."

The citizens of Pittsburgh voted for Clinton. They didn't vote for Trump.

Trump, sadly, the whole world is laughing at you. And that means they are laughing at America too!

Exactly!

The citizens of Pittsburgh voted for Clinton. They didn't vote for Trump.

What come again??? Try that again. This was a clear and subtle tongue and cheek blow to Hillary and the Democrats.

And we're laughing right back! Knowing Trump, I don't think he could care less. He's the POTUS not the president of the world, thank God!

And that means they are laughing at America too!

They've been doing that since the founding of the country, the only people that care are maybe Californians and a few people that want to emulate Sweden.

This is a good example of why the Left keep up the beheaded depictions of their Republican opponents. They are unhinged.

Trump tilts 'America First' toward 'America Alone'

America has been looking out for the interests of world stability since the end of the last world war and have been hated for trying to impose it's ideology on other nations. Now America is an exhausted world power and needs to attend to it's own interests. So naturally the Left hates America again for not throwing it's weight around on the world stage. For the Left, America is always bad unless it puts all other interests before its own. I guess that's why they loved Obama so much.
