I don't really see the big deal. People are getting overly sensitive.

Well, I have said before, I think Trudeau apologized and let’s see where the PC police will take this, but it’s Interesting...wonder when Eddie Murphy, Marlon Wayons and other comedians that are black will they ever face the same scrutiny and condemnation for dressing up as White? I am seriously curious about that.

Anybody who cannot comprehend that blackening your face to imitate another race, and then denying its all innocent. fun...playing by different rules that the rest of play...aka elitism

Trudeau publicly admitted his insensitivity, apologized, and has not tried to get any special rules applied to him.

So your comment is kind of irrelevant, other than as a hypothesis as a what-if scenario.

Trudeau has set of rules for others and set for himself.

It's time to send him on a 'magic carpet ride'

Most liberals do. Anybody who cannot comprehend that blackening your face to imitate another race, and then denying its all innocent. fun...playing by different rules that the rest of play...aka elitism

We just haven't figured out how to filter out those useless opinions.

To some, those opinions are pure gold. Meanwhile opinions valuable to society are getting filtered ruthlessly.

Just the fact that this is very being reported on proves my point. Its utterly useless information and an attempt to get clicks through faux outrage.

There aren’t many things more fun these days than watching the Left eating each other alive. But to give them credit, it’s a tough job keeping up with who’s holier than whom.

Just hope enough Canadians decide to turf out this hypocritical brat come October.

Make Canada Sane Again!

"The scandal surrounding Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau after a yearbook photo showing him in brownface at a 2001 costume party was published is bringing attention to a practice that scholars say white people have been using for years to demean Latinos and other minorities."

In Canada? Really? I'm pretty sure that the blackface problem is American history, not Canadian.

Does anyone actually think Trudeau is a racist? That he dislikes minorities or wants to make fun of them? At worst, he's been ignorantly insensitive - in which case was there ever a guy who seemed more willing to make up for ignorance he may have had?

It seems to be that people are criticizing Trudeau for crossing a line in another culture, at a time when said behavior wasn't considered to be racially insensitive, and feel that there is no redemption for having dared to do so.

We'll see how Canadians feel about it in the election. I'm suspecting that if he does lose, it won't be because of this blackface issue, but rather because of his performance over the past four years. The reality is that most people aren't extremist like you see on the internet. A comedian recently once said 'I go out on the street and everyone loves me. I go online and everyone hates me'. The extremist left love this because they can score points on someone who didn't dare follow social norms from another culture. The extremist right love this because they are watching the extremist left criticizing a guy they hate for being left in the first place.

The internet is a mess. It's given a voice to everyone, but unfortunately a lot of those people are really useless to society, and so are their opinions. We just haven't figured out how to filter out those useless opinions.
