Space"...snort and "Star Trek", for anyone who grew up on real science fiction, is just updated horses and cowboys and bad guys and very little actual imagination whatsoever and Sheriff Roy 'Kirk' Rogers firmly in the saddle, his six shot 'phasers' ever at the ready, his sidekick always available to pull his butt out of whatever jam the bad guys have put him in, and, along with his posse of stout hearted hombres, defeats whatever alien rustlers are trying to steal the intragalactic cows...but, apparently, enough for the average TV viewer...sigh

I should think that allowing a personal attack AS YOU HAVE, removing the rejoinder which, vis-a-vis the ARTICLE, is exactly on point seems a bit prejudiced:

Sorry you're so sensitive...empty hype annoys me as, clearly, criticism of your heroes, however much they toot their own horns with prevarication, obviously annoys you...but do try the slingshot if the Bezos' ride is out of YOUR range as well...and all Bezos provides is Gelt and for no reason other than competition with his 'peers'. If Musk were building a 'city under the sea' instead, the 'World's Largest Bookstore' would be doing the same...come back when Blue whatever actually achieves orbit with their so appropriately designed cylinder...

The Bezo's Ride is just the world's highest untracked roller coaster which goes up, lifts one off of their seats for a moment at apogee, and then heads back down the Gravity well.

The slingshot ride at the traveling carnival may be just as exciting, much more accessible, a whole lot cheaper, and doesn't come with all of the phony hoopla.

But the motives of the Amazon founder himself remain unclear. It is evident, though, that the popular culture of space travel has influenced Bezos deeply. A longtime “Trek” fan, he made a cameo as an alien Starfleet official in the 2016 movie “Star Trek Beyond.” And according to biographer Brad Stone, Bezos even fleetingly considered calling Amazon “Makeitso.com,” after Capt. Jean-Luc Picard’s favorite command.

There is a similar case where Amazon tried to make an adaptation of Iain Banks "The Culture" series. Elon Musk is also a fan and his Space X ships have names from The Culture. However, Iain Banks was a hardcore socialist and the series was cancelled before launch.

There are some serious contradictions between the visions of these science fiction futures and the present as embodied by these billionaire capitalists.
