His decision to do a debate is to blame. It's not the media's job to cover for Biden.
Banthu
You mean the public (aka conspiracy theorists) who were pointing out that the media and White House were covering up Biden's age related health problems were actually correct.
The "journalists charged with covering him" should apologize and resign in disgrace.
TaiwanIsNotChina
It's also not the press's job to ask inanities like why are you having some difficulty with stairs, Mr. President?

Biden dropped out − is the news media to blame?
Corrupt Democrats are to blame.
FizzBit
Sure are. Should’ve happened a year ago. Actually, it never should have happened because the ‘news media” (LOL) never should have let the Dems get away with no primaries. Unless of course that was always the plan and we all know the MSM is part of the corporate warmongering cabal.

There are gatekeepers in the legacy media but also amazing speakers of truth like Chris Hedges.

They've been doing that for the past 4 years, unless you watch FN or Sky News Oz, or independent news.

Since we have a free press, yes, the media is to "blame". More importantly, the media showed us Pres. Biden's decline over the last six months, which is what they are supposed to do.
If this were Russia, China, or North Korea, Biden's decline would never have been reported by the media.

So what should we be reading or watching? Links would be great.
Thanks in advance.

Which is more untruthful, politicians or journalists? That's a question that's been around during my lifetime.
But does it matter? As someone once sang, "A man hears what he wants to hear, And disregards the rest."

What we have is not a free press, but corporate media which is tightly controlled by those who dictate how their countries are run and what the leaders say or do. You're very naive to believe it's free. The Guardian which came out with wikileaks soon buckled, reporters concerned soon 'left', and now, in the UK, at least, editors of ALL the major newspapers have regular meetings with MI5 where they told what they should print and can't print. And we all know about Murdoch.
Very naive indeed. But don't worry - many others, including myself, were in your position once.

I'm getting long in the tooth. Many things which were daily activities years ago are now impossible. Giving up what one loves is difficult, but a wise man knows his limits. And after a lifetime of political service, Biden is a wise man.

It is the medias job to cover all Presidents and Congress for that matter, that was the entire reason for their being.
The WH knew how bad Biden was, the entire nation knew and yet they hid it and thought that people were dumb enough not to notice the insulting thing about this admin is that millions of people, not one or ten, are talking about millions of people from all backgrounds, professions, and incomes could see what was happening to Biden and the MSM instead of doing their jobs and to rightly push and ask questions as they are supposed to do, they went after Trump relentless for the last 4 years throwing everything they could against this guy and nothing stuck, meanwhile, Biden's wife knowing that her husband was in serious cognitive mental decline, continued to push him out into the world to the point where foreign leaders noticed the rapid changes and the WH still tried to blow it off and then there was the disastrous debate with Trump, that debate finally ended the speculation and the whole world saw what happened. The media's job is to investigate, ask questions, and scrutinize our leaders, not cover for them because of a candidate they disapprove of. This is their karma.
No, they should get an award for doing their jobs without worrying about the personal political fallout.
*Among the original 13 states, only seven, along with Vermont (which declared itself independent despite being claimed by both New York and New Hampshire), recognized the importance of including freedom of the press and speech in their laws. Below is a list of these states and the specific language regarding these freedoms as written in their *Constitutions or Bills of Rights, organized from north to south.
North Carolina, A Declaration of Rights, &c. - December 18, 1776: *XV. *That the freedom of the press is one of the great bulwarks of liberty, and therefore ought never to be restrained.

the mainstream media have segregated themselves into left and right bias to keep their readers in their bubble of beliefs for ad revenue.
don't know where to find unbiased media anymore.
social media is a cesspool of misinformation, lies and bots.
there ought to be a declaration for the people to be free from lies and deception.
it's now the united states of lies.

Newsmax is overtaking CNN in ratings for some prime-time programs. The opinion shows are pro-Trump (makes a change from CNN's relentless propaganda), They have some good commentators like Alan Dershowitz.

I still think there’s something to be said for reading from sensible voices from both sides - they are still there. The Telegraph in the UK is an example of a once reasonable paper of the right which went down the toilet to reposition itself.
In general I’d agree.
YouTube and Twitter are cesspools of commentators/grifters/partisans/conspiracy theorists/‘influencers’.
Trash.
Jimizo
Newsmax a change from relentless propaganda, eh?
Constipation is a change from diarrhea but neither are good.
Tim Sullivan
The algorithms of social media guide us to a world of binary opposites. But real life is more nuanced than that. I remember the Newsmax CEO saying that he reads the Guardian.
Tim Sullivan
It's sad that people are trapped in their echo chambers. What is truth?
Jimizo
What does that have to do with the output of his news channel?
What’s your opinion of the Guardian?
Jimizo
Fully agree.
What outlets do you follow?
bass4funk
On the liberal side, this is true.
Depending on what the left considers propaganda seems like anything that doesn't agree with their Marxist viewpoints is considered propaganda
Very true
Some, but the majority not so much, one reason is because you have a lot of pundits who could not have a voice on TV and felt that they could reach a bigger and growing audience on the the internet. A lot of it is quality and it depends, you have a buffet of people that you can choose from, people who have reasonable and rational insight into the geopolitical landscape, the difference is, that they are not controlled by a corporation and have more freedom to say what they want without being constrained and that is what we want in a media outlet.

Biden was defeated by Trump.
The Democrats saw how badly he was beaten and they threw in the towel.
Blame them not the media.

Bass, you constantly throw in the words liberal, left, and marxist. Could you give us your understanding of those words? It might help me understand your comments.
