Only until Xi discovers he can buy favors from Trump like Putin.

POTUS, on Saturday, addressing the National Governor’s Association Dinner.
And, by the way, I served in times when we had very, very starnch - staunch differences. I mean, there were incredible differences, but we always - not always, but the vast majority of the time, we looked out for a compromise when the end of the - when the end of the day came.
And, you know, it seems to me that - I'll conclude by saying, I - I've spent a lot of time with Xi Jinping - someone whom I have a great deal of difference with. And I was - when I was vice president, President - my - my president was - told me that he wanted me to get to know Xi Jinping because it was clear he was going to be the head of Russia - of - of China and that he - we had a - we were having problems with Russia at the time and other countries as well. And so, what he said was, "Get to know him. He's going to be there." I - and he couldn't because he was the president, and he couldn't travel. So, I traveled 17,000 miles with him throughout the country - our country and - and in - in China, as well.

Seems too much risk for most Corps. in China these days given Taiwan tension, that's real 'hawk' in room, Rest of Asia, especially India, Vietnam, etc. provide nice diversification and risk management etc.

Trump gave voice to something many people "agreed with on both sides of the aisle" but were unwilling to say aloud, he added.
And still they call Trump the worst US President, when he is actually the best US President going back decades.
Strangerland
Republican Historians rated him second from the bottom.
I'll trust them.

Oh, without a doubt.

The government of China does not recognise, adhere to, any agreed international trade rules and regulations.
Fair trading practices, opaque quasi state ownership structure, the question of subsides, over production. dumping.
Effective balance of payments adjustments have more than just a whip of currency manipulation.
In the areas of intellectual property (IP) rights theft, demanding technology transfers in exchange for market access.
Whether Biden or Trump, if we are to accept that one or the other will be the President after 2024 US election, it would be wise to start with the fact that the government of China will never play by any western style international rules based system.

Luckily for the REALLY important things, it's not the President that matters. It was during the first Trump Presidency that America finally realized China is a serious threat to the free world and our way of life. We shifted from the "work with them and they'll become more like us" way of thinking to "oh dear what have we gotten ourselves into".
That would have happened regardless of who was President. And it'll continue - as we saw when Biden came in. China is a threat. The Uni-polar days are over and Great Power Politics is back.
Presidents come and go but the agenda is set by those in career positions.

Lenin gave voice to many people, too. I don't think anyone would argue that ended well.
bass4funk
So you're saying, Biden is on borrowed time?
Strangerland
That's clearly not what he was saying. Typical right-wing tactic to try to pretend someone was saying something they weren't.
Yes yes, "libs something".
bass4funk
That is exactly what he was saying.
Strangerland
Nope.
