Travel all the time, spend months away from home, fall into a slump, boos from your own fans, have a great day and it's "what are you going to do tomorrow". Pressure pressure pressure. Of course it's wearing mentally. The spotlight is on you with this at bat, this half inning, this line drive, this error. . .I am amazed it's taken so long to get this out in the open. It's a tough life, money or no. I'm all for giving a guy time off for a sprained ankle or for situational disorder like anxiety and a lot of other things. These are people, not machines.

To me, it’s clear that the tide is turning. Athletes no longer need to suffer in silence.

A very fortunate change that hopefully will spread to other fields. There are still too many jobs where people are expected to hide their struggles.
