Gwragged, my experience is limited (but not zero, and doubled by a very bitter experience), but a good friend of mine is having a really good time. you have to know where and how to initiate the contacts. Of course, I never said "in the same numbers as men", we all know that's of course impossible.

The thing is that if a woman's husband cheats on her she's regarded as a victim. If a man's wife cheats on him he's regarded as too weak/too poor a lover/etc to keep his wife.

Just as a man with many sexual partners is called a playboy while a woman with the same habits is called easy or promiscuous, or one other word that sums it up nicely but I'll keep to myself. The playing field will probably never be even. Having said that, I do believe that "sexting" done by married/involed people is most definitely non gender specific and most definitely related to lack of satisfaction (with sex, work, life, partner, whatever!)

As a male, I have to say sexting is fun! Until the next morning when you wake up and realise what you have sent...

Timeon, Ill have to take your word for it, but seriously? There are mature married women out there, in the same numbers as men, sending photos of their privates to strange men, for kicks? In Japan! Really? Im no innocent, but you would think people would be concerned about their marriages and ending up with their boobs plastered across some dodgy website! Well, you learn something new....

"How many wives are out there sending photos of their sexy bits to strange men?!"

You would be extremely surprised. I know a handful, and I'm not even a player. I'm talking about Japan here, I don't know about other places

How many wives are out there sending photos of their sexy bits to strange men?! Come on! This is a mainly male problem. All these men who say it is fine, would you be ok with it if it was your girlfriend or wife sending photos of her bits to other men?

Cheating in the flesh is another matter, and wrong whether it is the man or the wife cheating. It just hurts too many people.

Married men sometimes behave badly. They covet. They flirt. They philander.

... Married women sometimes do all of the above too. The thing is that if a woman's husband cheats on her she's regarded as a victim. If a man's wife cheats on him he's regarded as too weak/too poor a lover/etc to keep his wife. The simple fact is that women are as likely to cheat as men. The tragedy is that men are unable to speak about because of social pressure.

Goddog, any woman who hits on a married man, or a man who is not expressly single is deluded at best, totally uncaring about the damage she is causing at worst.

If someone's husband is sexual, in whatever way with another woman, it is a big deal, a very big deal. Mine would be out the door if he did to me what this man did to his wife. It shows a total lack of respect for his wife, or their marriage.

It is not a sickness, it is a total lack of control or respect.

I don't believe "sexting" is about sex.

Rape, another manifestation, is about asserting power over a victim.

I believe "sexting" is about a person who feels powerless, and is asserting their "victim" status...

Maybe his wife did not give him any sex.

She's 3~4 months pregnant, presumably by him. Unless she had an encounter with her boss's husband.

If some chick or so called chick requested to see the Canolis, then that is sick according to most of the posters here. I do believe it takes two to tango ne!

Why limit the "sick" part to sex? As far as I'm concerned, people who can't stop texting while crossing streets and on the steps of crowded rail stations, etc., are utterly, totally addicted and unable to control themselves.

I agree with Stranger, "sexting" should be "sexual e-mailing."

I think this guy just messed up & is in damage control mode, trying to salvage something,.................

That said growing up & still up to today have that testosterone stuff inside man that stuff is powerful, I have managed to keep the stuff from controling me & make me do something stupid, SO FAR! Now if I had say 20-30% more over the years, I am not sure if I cud have kept control, so maybe some people cant, dont know, but I know I dont want a higher dose than what I have had its been plenty enough thank you!

Great, even if their sex life was nonexistent, he had no right to stray. He engaged with people sexually with no regard for his marriage, or his career. If he was not happy with his wife, then divorce or separation is the way to go

Just my opinion, but I think you are going way overboard on this thing. Not such a big deal in my book. Another example of Americans overreacting over a little thing. Also, divorce is not something to be taken so lightly. Especially if him and his wife have underage children, then divorce would be a much worse option compared to what he's done.

Great, even if their sex life was nonexistent, he had no right to stray. He engaged with people sexually with no regard for his marriage, or his career. If he was not happy with his wife, then divorce or separation is the way to go instead of public humiliation and betrayal. I dont know about illness, perhaps a sign of someone so arrogant that they feel beyond reproach that they will never be caught, or with a total lack of respect for everyone around him, including those poor deluded women he sent photos to.

Sexting wasn't even a word 8 years ago.

It shouldn't even be a word now. Why do people say texting instead of emailing?

Sexting would be a symptom, not the illness itself. Who writes these headlines?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Oops. ISNT that what the internet is for.........

"Plenty of men and women secretly live out their fantasies on the Internet, sometimes in compulsive fashion."

Is that what the Internet is FOR? And what is he getting treatment for? being a man? I dont see what the problem is if people want to enjoy themselves on the internet with like minded people. Not like the internet is "real" or anything.

@Gwraggged: Maybe his wife did not give him any sex. Perhaps that is why he strayed like this.

So its ok for a married man to engage in this type of behavior, as long as they dont get caught, Great? Sex with his WIFE would have been good and healthy, what Wiener did was neither of those things.

All I have to say about this is that sex is good and healthy. Just do not put your face on the web.
