The lack of any kind of strategic long term planning from this administration is stunning. I mean, we should know better by know, but just when you think they can't do any worse, they find a way to disappoint even more.

If automakers want to stay ahead of the competition they should be designing more efficient, cleaner-running cars without the gov't getting in the way with a bunch of regulations. The Trump administration has rolled back loads of stifling regulations and the economy is booming. Hope enough people remain awake for the November mid-terms and make the Red Wave happen.

Trump is running head-first into one item California considers a sacred trust. He might win, but not until long after he's out of office. More likely is he will lose quickly, and, ironically, this is what the automakers would prefer: the stability of California mandates to the capriciousness of Washington.

I don't know if he is helping the Chinese automakers, but he isn't doing the American consumer any favors, nor those who care about global warming.
