Government ministers, charged with carrying out the will of the electorate, talk up – probably over-optimistically – the chances of a network of trade agreements, many with former colonies such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States itself.

Yes its called canzuk and its been going on for a while. if you include the US then you are talking about the 5 eyes.

The British journalist Paul Mason writes of “the self-deluded narrative that has guided the whole Brexit strategy: the idea that ‘our’ former colonies will want to form a new, white, English-speaking trading area – nicknamed Empire 2.0 – to replace the EU.”

Which exactly former colonies are white?? Is he referring to CANZ?? (Canada OZ and NZ) Because they are most certainly not white. and neither is the US. All these countries are full of immigrants. They are no more white than the EU is.

There is a movement that the UK should get behind: CANZUK. and yes it is the idea that the 4 countries of the UK, OZ, NZ, and Canada should form a FTA and open borders agreement.

@Aly Rustom, the '5 eyes' is anything but a trade agreement.

Five eyes is about espionage, keeping Huawei out !

Its a bit more complicated than that Will.

That's very true. They cover just about everything else...

First of all, Their militaries are extremely intertwined. They cover ground forces cooperation through the ABCA Armies, Air forces cooperation through the Air and Space Interoperability Council, and the Navies through the AUSCANNZUKUS.

Their border issues are covered by 3 different agencies: the Border Five agreement deals with customs and border management policy, issues relating to passports are covered in the Five Nations Passport Group, and "enhancement of the integrity, security and efficiency of their immigration and border services" including the sharing of certain overseas visa application centres are handled through the Five Country Conference.

They even have an agency set up for the sharing of technology and science- The Technical Cooperation Program, and their UKUSA Agreement deals with signals intelligence.

Believe me. A free trade agreement is going to come soon and so will open borders.

I don't know if the US will definitely get on board with it and open up their borders 100% but I'm pretty sure Canzuk will.
