Fascinating, brilliant, and hopeful; a very good article. It is a shame that progress in human relations seems to be predicated first on suffering in wars, and then finally on the use of logic and compassion to end the suffering. If the observations and analyses in this article are accurate, the Middle East may finally be nearer to peace. One notable exception is in Syria. Putin, Assad, and the Iranian leadership seem to be impervious to the suffering going on there. Not only are they not working to make conditions there better, but are willing to inflict terrible horrors upon Syrians for no other aim than to hold onto power.
