this will result in private or subcontracted police forces who answer to no-one. The same has happened in war zones where governments fight wars through mercenaries contracted to "security" companies.... The US will be ungovernable when this eventually happens...

Anarchy and vigilante justice comes to mind. Rashida Tlaib and these other Democrat politicians who support this are insane and need to be voted out.

Some police departments are more a part of the problem, than a part of the solution. If they can't be fixed, it may be necessary to start from scratch, and toss out the rotten apples. Of course not all cops are bad, but some departments are thoroughly corrupt.

The militarization of the police in America has been a failure. When you dress the police up like they are in war, they naturally see everyone as the enemy. It's inevitable.

Affluent areas of the country will hire police forces which are going to be less accountable than the present system. Other parts of the US will become quite lawless, especially urban areas.

There will be an exodus of affluent Democrats into Red States. The rest of the rats

will be left to fend for themselves........ and its already happening. People from Chicago and New York are moving to Florida and Kentucky.

Reforming the Police system is just another issue Dems will fling upon Trump.

Monumental failure in Blue states have been unfolding long before Trump.

Obama and his minions can't even fix Chicago...go figure.

Why is this article not entitled 'U.S. protester's INSANE call to 'Defund the Police.''?

Why add 'What would that look like?'?....Isn't it obvious?

Why is the media even giving print space or airtime to such insanity?

That looks like the goal of those behind the chaos.

All revolutions are funded by behind the scenes actors who use others to do the dirty work.

I agree. And I am quite sure that the "new" police will be even more militarized and more militant, demanding conformity in action and opinion.

With all those guns people have, I can see Jungle Raj coming.

Actually, yeah... the crime rate dropped by half, the police are more involved with their communities, and while not a perfect solution, are doing a damn fine better job than the previous police department.

That's a sample of one - not exactly scientific. And the information comes from a news corporation that wants to present a certain narrative - certainly not objectivity. But go ahead, somebody has to serve as a guinea pig for questionable ideas.

looking at the news, this movement seems to be picking up traction.

It's funny to see the media industrial complex go into overdrive 'explaining' what the protesters 'really meant' by calling to defund the police. It's very simple. The word 'defund' means just that, to remove all money and financial support. It doesn't mean reform, or retrain, or change. It means to eliminate by cutting off financial support. They want an end to policing in America.

Seeing as the police in most cities have been controlled by Democrats for the past several decades, it is easy to see where to point the finger of blame. As others have correctly pointed out, policing in America is done at the local level as much as possible. The federal government basically stays out of the way. When the feds DO get involved, it generally with horrible results. For example, giving out excess military gear to local law enforcement and encouraging asset seizures when no crime is committed.

If you read the whole story, you'd see they note multiple locations that have 'defunded' or 'disbanded' their police for various reasons. They also note that Camden is no Minneapolis, and that the size, etc would be dramatic.

But it is a counter to the constant trumpeting on the other side that defunding or disbanding a police force would result in 'anarchy' and 'thugs' (cough, cough, gaslighting) that would take over the cities. The fact is simple, it has been done before, and it has been done successfully.

Defund the police and watch wealth transfer take off....

Defund the police and watch wealth transfer take off....

Follow any policy enacted by Trump and the right, and track how they padded their pockets with that wealth transfer.

"The Radical Left Democrats new theme is 'Defund the Police,'" Trump said in a tweet this week. "Remember that when you don't want Crime, especially against you and your family. This is where Sleepy Joe is being dragged by the socialists. I am the complete opposite, more money for Law Enforcement!"

Biden has called for a $300-million investment in policing, contingent on officers mirroring the diversity of their communities.

Joe "If the prosecutor is not fired you're not getting the money" Biden is a bad joke.
