Trump thinks that hurting China will automatically be good for the U.S.. Trade doesn't work that way. It is true that he has hurt China, but he is also hurting the U.S. Trade policies should attempt to achieve a win-win outcome, not a lose-lose outcome, but a man whose only claim to fame is going bankrupt, and money laundering for Putin, does not understand trade.

Trump knows that standing up to China at long last will be good for the U.S. in the long run.

a man whose only claim to fame is going bankrupt,

Not only that, he built successful businesses making billions of dollars and employing thousands of people, and he walloped Vince McMahon real good and shaved his head too :D

In the LONG run, Trump's plan will work for America!!

The Chinese are hoping for a Democrat victory in 2020 which would return things to the status quo. and put even more made in China stuff in U.S. stores.

I don't think they are.

The thing about Trump, he's weak. Easy to fight with. Less than have his people voted for him, and only a small percentage actually like him.

The worst thing for the Chinese will be if a competent negotiator gets into office. One who actually does know how to fight a trade war, someone who understands more than "derp, more tariffs on my own people".

For now, the Chinese have an easy adversary. Better the fool you know, than the hawk you don't.

I do not see any of the clowns on the democrat side as hawks in regard to the China issue. As Serrano pointed out, the dictators in Peking are definitely hoping that Trump loses the next election, which is why they are targeting his strong states for trade sanctions. Which is, of course, election interference, but (un)surprisingly, the cackling anti-trump media do not seem to care about that in this case.

Well it’s a matter of perspective.

A sparrow is a hawk in comparison to trumps ineptitude.

Trump is easy for the Chinese to deaL with. Annoying, but easy. The next president will be sane, with the power and actual backing of the people. That’s way more worrying than Trump.

So they're hoping for a Trump re-election then? You sure?
