Ah, but he will now, with Lebanon being the one country without an extradition treaty with Japan. Still better than doing so in Japan, imprisoned and banned from family contacts. It seems to me that he has self imprisoned himself. But at least his 'cell' will be warm.

Cant blame him for doing a runner, if we have a look at how he has been treated compared to Japanese executives, Kobe Steel executives apparently were playing the books for 40 yrs and yet not a single executive was fined or jailed the company copped a fine, a deep bow from the executives and then rort went on.
Goshn has said he will be releasing some interesting commentary in the near future now that's gonna be worth listening too.
This was on Yahoo Finance this morning

Who's going to play Ghosn when they make a movie about this?
I nominate Rowan Atkinson!

I agree, the guy is scum, but the judicial system needs to change a complete overhaul and come into the new modern era.

Ghosn hasn’t been found guilty of anything, so why are you calling him scum? You constantly screech at the top of your lungs, “GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT!” whenever a conservative is accused of something.

Maybe it was the Russians?
I’m sorry, he’s one of the most honorable person alive, who wouldn’t want to strive and emulate him?
That’s our system in the US and most western countries.

He masterminded nothing. Japan gave him an out and they get to save face (most important!)

I, for one, am leery of any individual having more than one citizenship or carry more than one legitimate passport.

@Omachi
Lebanon being the one? country??
A bit of research before speaking goes a long way.
Actually he should be able to travel very freely since only the US and South Korea actually have extradition treaties with Japan for he has been accused of...

Wobot, completely agree. With these corporate scandals, whether involving money, quality shortcuts, or anything in-between, I’ve never heard of anyone being thrown in detention, passports confiscated, etc. The news on those folks seem to just fade away after the initial media announcement. I’d like to know what actually happened - did they do time? We’re they fined? How much? Assets forfeited?

Maybe Hollywood will get inspired for once and make a film about this. This is crime drama material.

Yes. Some have been fined. Some have done time. Some have written about their experiences in English. If anything Ghosn was doing better than most Japanese who get caught up in the system. The elderly Kagoike couple spent ten months in the clink before being given bail. Look up Suzuki Muneo and Horie Takafumi to see how Japanese politicians and businessmen have been treated.
