Let's try this out in Japan. I know a few Chinese who made a bad decision when they were young to overstay their visa and are working in the shadows. They speak Japanese fluently and love being in Japan. They should not be sent back to China. If we cannot give them permission to stay, lets not give permission for them to be deported. Like the US.

So Obama will reward those who broke the law, and are continuing to break the law by not enforcing the regulations he swore to uphold when he took the oath of office. In the meantime, those who have abided by the law, and gone through the extensive time expense to immigrate legally get a slap in the face for their trouble. They are told that lawbreakers get precedence over those who follow the rules.

gokai is actually Japanese. All I can do is let my passport expire. But US guys working at my office agree. They went through the trouble to get PR here. But they still think that people can do foolish things when they are young. The whole person should be seen.

You have no idea what you are talking about. President Obama's administration has deported over two million people -- more than President Bush deported in his entire term. The people who are being given temporary permission to stay until the law is updated, were brought here by their parents or other close relatives as children. They know no other country. Or perhaps you are complaining about the children from Central America currently entering the country. In either case, you're lack of compassion is breathtaking and I feel sorry for you.

That's not a crime though. You should know then, that Japan's immigration laws are very strict and PR takes years to get. Why should those who break the law, sneak in, get a free pass? It's hardly fair to those of us who went through proper legal channels and waited years.

The problem with Japan is that it is an aging and decrease in young, working population. Japan wants to stay competitive, they need to adjust it's immigration policy. If you live in Southeast Asia or other countries, Japan offers only three years for working visa for qualified workers. If you apply for working visa in South Korea or Taiwan, you can get close to decade. No wonder majority of these workers will not choose Japan as their destination. Japan is being left behind by competition for young, qualified workers from these neighboring countries.

Sorry, the majority of those deported during the Obama presidency were done so under policies enacted by Bush. There is a lag time between cause and effect. Many of these policies have been nullified, and we are seeing deportations decrease greatly. Deporations of young illegal immigrants have stopped, due to wide application of the DREAM act, which isn't even law yet. And we are seeing mass dumpings of young immigrants in cities across America, as those caught crossing the border illegally are not instantly deported, but are allowed to stay, and given notices to attend court hearings to determine their status. We have outbreaks of TB, because immigration agents are not allowed to ask medical history questions, or conduct medical screenings. Anyone who thinks illegal immigration has decreased under Obama is incorrect.
