Crazy Maxine Waters is not going to be pleased.

When is she ever pleased politically?

I like to see such impeachment hearings and votes called each week, so we can have a nice tally of who is a thug and who is not. Simple.

Agreed. Keep the pressure on. If one plate falls, spin up another. I seem to remember some other political party using this method not so long back.

I obviously meant the text that you referred to, not your post.

Understood, thanks.

This line is just a typical one from the online Trump fan* playbook

They don't have to aid it, they just have to not hinder it. And how can it be failed if it hasn't finished? A lot of you seem to be confused by the phrase 'ongoing investigation'

This line is just a typical one from the online Trump fan* playbook. It is to deliberately confuse an ongoing investigation with a failed one - and given that the investigation has led to multiple convictions already, it can hardly be determined to be a failure.

Seems to me that the republican strategy with Obama-care (or the AFFORDABLE-care act) was to have weekly bills to repeal it. It kept it in the news. It wasn't effective, but it kept things front and center. I like to see such impeachment hearings and votes called each week, so we can have a nice tally of who is a thug and who is not. Simple.

Seems like a good strategy.

The agenda for now includes spending on public works projects, lowering health care costs and increasing oversight of the administration.

Sounds Good. Infrastructure improvements in particular would be popular with everyone and in many cases desperately needed.

"If the case is there, then that should be self-evident to Democrats and Republicans," she said.

I hope that's the way it goes, if the case can be made. Last thing the country needs is more us v them rhetoric.

As an often reluctant democrat, I agree for now. Let the Mueller investigation play out, target Trump's specific wrongdoings where/when the evidence is clear but overall keep your eyes on your primary job, representing your consistuents and their stated concerns (of which the Russia investigation isn't even in the top 10). At least until Mueller drops his other shoe.

Very sensible.

Do they really want to waste 2 years trying to aid the failed Muller "probe"?

The Democrats have BIG problems. They have elderly leadership and rank and file have no experience.

True, but they also have young voters, and increasing numbers of them. Republicans can't cling on to climate change denial and support for white supremacists forever and hope to stay relevant.

If the new House dems can't get rid of Pelosi, what can they do to get rid of Trump?

Short answer...nothing.

They must actually DO SOMETHING and not have endless investigations. How are the Democrats going to win 2020 if they don't have any accomplishments. If they want to defeat Trump then they have to do something to get people to side with them and vote for Hillary,Cortez,Booker,Bepo or Biden or Bernie.

Impeachment wont get them anywhere. And lying about their intention to do it for 2 years was a mistake. If Pelosi is elected she will have to work with Trump on infrastructure. She has to get something done. A stalemate isn't going to help the Democrats win 2020 and working with Trump will alienate their base.

Impeach Trump sounds good, but it wont help them in 2020. It looks like they might use Hillary or Boden AGAIN. And Bernie will be past 80.

The House of Representatives could theoretically start impeachment proceedings, but at this point the Senate would not vote against Trump by a 2/3ds margin, and that is obvious. What the House can do is to stop covering up Trump's illegal behavior, which the Republican controlled Congress has done for the last two years. The American people can then tell their Representatives and Senators what they want done with the "President." Exposing his misdeeds to the light of day may be enough to get him to flee to Russia.

We Democrats have BIG problems. Our leadership is in its 80s and the base has no respect for them. Cortez may have potential, but she cant move from bartender to Congressional leader without some time to learn and grow.

We spent too much time threatening to impeach Trump and now we have decided not to do it ??? The Democratic base derides Pelosi as too old and too white. We need an agenda and some potential leaders with experience.
