I think this song sings what each and every Japanese has in their hearts right now. Even if some are beaten and on the ground right now, I hope each and everyone will find new strength to get up on their feet again and walk tall.

If there's such a huge bugger of an earthquake and only seconds later a monster tsunami rides in then there's barely any chance that ANYONE will be prepared, no matter how well you prepare yourself. Only solution is not to settle in valleys near the coast but Japan which doesn't have much area because of mountains doesn't have much option there either.

The height of the tsunami is irrelevant, because the power of the tsunami is in its length not its height. The news broadcasters who are confusing people about this need to be thrown in jail.

Both, the height and the power of the tsunami are relevant. Both kills. If one do not destroy whatever is in its' path, the job will be finish for it by the other. They work in tandem with each other. That is why, a safe place would be on high ground out of reach of the tsunami.

Am I the only one who thinks that opening sentence is inappropriate? There is no glory in what is STILL happening over here. There was no battle, only a natural disaster. Why has the writer tried to make it sound like a Hollywood movie trailer?

1000's of innocent people living a normal life have died and millions have had their normal way of life shattered. Show a little bit of respect will you.

the fault line for the next quake runs directly south of tokyo, through Izu peninsula, Shizuoka and kansai. I have a feeling that the next few aftershocks will keep moving south, which means that current tsunami warning maps are already unsuitable.

People in tsunami affected areas had approximately 30 minutes to get away, since the tsunami hit at 3:10pm. Clearly very few people knew what to do, or didnt feel the urgency. Whoever said that the tsunami was only going to be 60cm needs to be thrown in jail.

The Tokai Earthquake will be in the Tokai region - Nagoya, Gifu, Shizukoa- that's not "near Tokyo".

In my country is said that when you see your neighbor losing his beard is the best to clean your own beard... Japan suffered a lot but stand big against the earthquake, the big question is... Can America be able to stand big against a big earthquake like that one?

Puny? Nonsense. Without those defenses and warnings the death toll would have been 10 to 100 times higher. Japan's preparations paid off big time, just ask any of the survivors.

In a certain level of preparation to protect human lives, we can invest in new technologies from anti-quake construction or dams or levees ... everything need investment, but mother-nature catastrophes are out of human controls. We have witnessed these results during the history of human-beings ... We can build dams along a seashore to prevent tsunami, but efficiency ... questionable ... because ... earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunami, hurricanes and tornadoes can occur at a same place or a same time ... People only prevent or predict as much as possible ...

I wonder if in the future humans will ever have the technology to control the forces of nature like earthquakes, hurricanes, rain, temperatures and so on. The story is correct in saying that Japan is probably better prepared than most earthquake-prone countries; yet its defenses still ended up being puny.
