If anyone followed the case, they would know that his “legal team” used every dirty trick in the book to make her life a misery. Even repeatedly revealing her name. Then they bought her off with a big cash payment.

Money and power works wonders. Kobe was a rapist.

But he was good at throwing a ball through a hoop, so he gets a free pass.

allegations - is the key word here most of these allegations either happen years ago when the neither side has any real chance in proving or disproving either side of the story, the laws should be changed so that any criminal wrong doing should be reported within 48hrs after the alleged offence and prosecuted within two years, evidence is still available in the early reporting period and memories are still fairly accurate.

Whilst the death is very sad, it's jarring when one considers what might have occurred back in '03.

Thankfully, there are those who understand the trauma of sexual assault and rape & that sometimes it can takes months, years (or maybe never) to come forward and relieve the horror of what happened.

A person gets beaten up in the street is traumatic event they go to the police straight away, its the same action these victims should be following - the evidence is available immediately and can be used in the conviction.

It's disturbing how the same old voices repeatedly side with the sex offenders. Never the victims.

That's because that "old voice" has been a juror on these trials and knows what stories can be told by the so called "victims".

I remember this case. I was in junior high and everyone, from teenagers to adults, knew Kobe was going to jail. They had him completely, all the evidence showed rape from lacerations to bruises, they had credible witness testimony, and they needed for the final nail in the coffin was her to take the stand. His lawyers destroyed her in public and she ended up dropping the criminal case. She proceeded to file a civil case instead and they settled that out of court.

You've clearly never met or dealt with a rape victim. The trauma of being violated can be intense and affect victims in different ways, denial, self-loathing, fear and sucidal thoughts. Often, the idea of having to go through the examination/rape kit and ensuing interrogation causes panic attacks.

No wonder more people don't come forward. With that attitude, I imagine potential jurors would be excluded from cases dealing with sexual assault.

Rape is about establishing fear and overbearing power. Look at how long it took to bring Bill Cosby to justice, fear kept his 62 victims silent or ignored. R Kelly has gotten away for far too long, his track record spans light-years. Epstein, Weinstein the same. And Trump's victims' allegations have been shoved under the rug. It's all about FEAR. Fear that nobody will believe them, in this victim-blaming society. It's an onus.

Wealthy people will always be a target for people looking for a payout. It's difficult to know which ones are real or fake.
