Can i generalise for once, a very short answer to the question ?

Yes

I myself think the Union is the only way forward but the way it is run atm combined with the financial crisis (of which the impact is far from over) raises doubt with a lot of people who long for (you know the cliché, right) the good old days, failing to see the golden 50s and 60s will not be coming back the way they lived it

The only countries that haven't lost faith are the one's whose banks needed to be bailed out!!!!

As an irisperson I would have to say yes.The original idea compared to what it has become are totally different. and now most members feel bypassed in the major decision making. The amount of rules and regulations are also another factor people dislike it.The cons are begiining to outweigh the pros. The bureaucrats who make the rules are so out of touch with the real world. They just seem interested in keeping their gravy train going at full speed. And whats with this vote against a treaty and being told to vote again until you vote for the right result!! If North korea did that everyone would go on about it.Was a nice idea but it has been twisted

The Brits don't know how luck they are that Thatcher and Major kept the country out of the Euro zone.

The problem is not the EU or its people. The problem with the EU and really any country is its political class. The concept of free people interacting across national borders within the EU and those people freely doing whatever they wish without of course infringing on other people is a very simple and probably desired condition for all citizens of Europe. The problem for the political class is they cant pillage free people. The political class gains no power from free people. The political class cant be a parasite as they normally are if people are freely crossing borders and freely working, trading or purchasing whenever they want.

The people should trust the EU political class less and less. Those so called leaders are doing everything they can to stifle freedom and take as much money and power as they can obtain. The abject greed of the political class and their never ending thirst for control results in the EU being stifled economically. It isnt the people of the EU who have racked up massive government debt, it was the political class who did that.

I would think a nation dealing with its own parasites in the political class to be bad enough but the EU has managed to create entirely new positions for even more of the political class to use as an excuse to pillage and control. The EU citizens already had a shaft up their rear end by there on government, the EU political class has made the shaft larger and now each person has two groups in the political class using that shaft.

My thoughts here are not unique to Europe. The political class world wide, their greed for money and power is a world problem. We Americans have our own jackass politicians shafting us as well. Look at any problem in the world causing misery for people and you will find some political class, ether voted in, self appointed, theocrats or some nonsense traditional leaders taking money, racking up bills, causing wars, enslaving people...name the problem and somewhere at the core you will find the political class causing the problem.

We should distrust anyone who tries to rule/.
