Comparison with Giuliani makes no sense here. Kan has now to deal with way more problems than giuliani ever had.I'd say that, get given the circumstances, Kan has managed this exemplary.

I think Kan is doing a decent job and has delegated lots of problems to others(what a leader should do).

Said that Kan has way more fires to put out than the nuclear reactors, which won't go away even after the reactor headaches are over.

I think it is time for all sides to drop the guns, leave the theatre and concentrate on the crucial work at hand - get a life back.

Travelling through half the stretch of the country for 3 days following the disaster, I have witnessed the resilience and calm of ordinary people on the streets. They are doing what they can to get back to normality quicker that anyone can possibly imagine, and they are achieving just that.

Kan's task is to lead as well as to show his passionate self to applaud that resilience of the people and get the political as well as administrative processes to work as one united front and serve his populus.

Only time will tell - perhaps he will be known as the best PM ever to have emerged in a crisis, or perhaps not. However, it is too early to be handing him a term report.

Naoto Kan is doing a good job, considering he's got the big picture to look after, Cabinet Secretary Edano is managing the nuclear issue as well as he can, considering the power utilities lack of information.

Now if only the local bureaucrats would think out of the box, how to help people up north. Refusing to deliver goods to an evacuation zone, instead telling them to come and pick it up themselves is not helpful to people.

This could be the Kan I have been waiting for to make a comeback (if he lives up the the expectations the article puts on him). We will know later if he did his job managing this very complicated mess. Can't judge his performance by how many times he shows up on TV. Every minute preparing for a TV appearance is a minute not working on the issues. Leave that to Edano. His administration is, in my opinion, at least doing better than Mr. Eyebrows (Murayama) in 1995.
