the fact is that many of us became very wealthy during the Bush years.

I like your irony. Madoff's customers did indeed become very wealthy. Same with the subprime borrowers. Now they're in the sh*t for spending their own money stupidly during the Bush years - and they blame Obama!! Hilarious.

As for equities, when George Junior left office, the SP had sunk to around 800. Now, after nearly 4 years of Obama, it's up at 1,400, a 75% surge. What is it people expect? Do you all really want a return to financial collapse, massive terrorist attacks against US soil, and endless wars?

The world now is much better off than in the 2000s. Remember 2001-2008? 9/11 carried out, financial system in collapse, two badly planned wars in full swing, Katrina, etc., it was an utter nightmare.

actually we are currently doing the same thing that we were doing in 2000s. Watch money, power, and wall street by frontline.

It's one of the best documentaries to show the cause and reaction of the economic crisis

JeffLee,

"Bush Junior was handed a powerful, peaceful and prosperous America and turned it into a war-torn nightmare on the brink of economic collapse. "

While that analysis is partially true, the fact is that many of us became very wealthy during the Bush years. Defense equities went through the roof, selling security services and products to the US government was very profitable. The US may or may not recover to its former status, but so long as there are profit opportunities in the defense sector, the US is open for business.

"It's gonna take time"

Yeah, it's gonna take all of Obama's second term and probably most of the next Democratic president's two terms, right?

He was handed a mess and has done about as well as I think anyone could with it.

That's exactly my point. Bush Junior was handed a powerful, peaceful and prosperous America and turned it into a war-torn nightmare on the brink of economic collapse. The challenge is to get America back to how it was in 2000. It's gonna take time.

"ROFLMAO! That was a great one liner there! Expecting Dems and Reps to "play nice" is like expecting rain in the desert. It almost never happens! It is a systemic problem derived from career politicians, the ones who can lead their constituants around by the nose and will always get re-elected. Until term limits are in place, and the power of congress is severely contained, coupled with a true set of laws against powerful lobbyists. America will continue to slowly spiral down into the dustbin of history. Just remember this one liner for next time. If the word pro is the opposite of con, then the opposite of progress is Congress!!!"

LMFAO... I agree with everything you said, and I also like your one liner better.

The sooner Republicans and Democrats can stop bickering like little kids with their "gotcha" politics, and start doing what's right for the country, the better off we will be. It's high time to start worrying a little less about other countries around the world, and a lot more about our own.

"The man is no more than a proffessional politician who wrote checks with his mouth that his @#$# could'nt cash,as far as this American knows, his domestic policy caused deep division as for his foreign policy he's weak in the knees!"

Welcome to the world of "gotcha" U.S. politics!! Name a politician Republican or Democrat who hasn't lied his/her way into office!! It's very easy for a candidate running for president, to talk about how tough he/she would be on foreign policy, only to quickly back off once elected, when they realize that there is more to the job, than sound bites, and politivcal pandering. Romney claims how touygh he would be with China and Russia. Exacxtly how tough does anyone really expect him to be if elected, when China is holding our debt, and will continue to do so? Bush was willing to let China buy into our oil industry, and allow a foreign entity to handle security at our ports, so we know how "weak at the knees" he could be on foreign policy. And does anyone know what the final reason was for invading Iraq that the Bush administration decided to settle on? It's not very wise foreign policy to invade a country "on the fly". It's also not wise foreign policy to rely on a ragtag peasant army to capture or kill the most wanted terrorist in the world the way the Bush did. Obama may have weaknesses on foreign policy, but he's no Jimmy Carter either. The sooner Republicans and Democrats can stop bickering like little kids with their "gotcha" politics, and start doing what's right for the country, the better off we will be. It's high time to start worrying a little less about other countries around the world, and a lot more about our own.

I'm on that same above mentioned "Roller-Coaster & I want OFF!-Goodbye & Good Luck,Mr.President! During a few of my television appearances and newspaper/magazine interviews in late 2008 I was asked repeatedly by the Japanese media what I expected from Obama. My answer was always, "Disappointment." Many journos became angry with me, as though Obama's supposed "success" was predetermined. But the truth was there was no way Obama could live up to the expectations. He has done a fair job, don't get me wrong. He was handed a mess and has done about as well as I think anyone could with it. The economy is largely out of his hands, especially with a Republican House. But, I expect to see a new President next January.

Many people around the world hoped for positive change with Obama and got that. They got: more expansion of US thuggery worldwide, more suspension of habeas corpus, more extrajudicial renditions, more enhanced interrogations, many more drone attacks, more CIA assassinations, more support of dictatorships, more infringement of civil rights, more regulations that inhibit employers from hiring more employees due to incalcuably more "healthcare" costs, more personal bankruptcies, more welfare recipients, more partisan division, more class division, more joining the lower economic class, etc, etc. Yup very positively more, but just not of anything desirable. Perhaps less would be more?

"Obama falls short of meteoric expectations abroad..." hope Norwegian Nobel Committee is paying attention to this news report !

Because of Obama's unrestrained spending policies the U.S. debt is now roughly $2,000 for every man, woman and child in the WORLD! Lets see what the people of the world think about him when he puts the U.S. government into default which will undoubtedly put the whole world into another great depression and there is no more U.S. money for foreign aid.

You set the bar pretty low for exceeding expectations considering our national debt has gone up 60% under Obama and unemployment is at 8+ percent, over 10% if you count people that have quit looking for work. Obama promised Hope and Change and he has brought neither,Washington is just as divided as when Bush was President.

Many of the experts warned in 2008 that the damage inflicted by Bush Jr. would take years and years to fix. They were right, and the progress seen now has exceeded many expectations.
