It's not really a problem for me as I only add close friends and family to my online circles. We all have an unspoken etiquette to keep posts and pictures appropriate and upbeat. Meeting up with each other in person or using the phone is done for everything else.

Facebook zombies... Every week that I saw a post about how Mondays suck, I cringed! Every week you have to post it? What? Like you forgot and EVERY week, you suddenly realize... Hey! Mondays suck! Facebook has taken diarrhea of the mouth to a whole new level. I couldn't handle the amount of stupidity perpetuated on a daily basis and unplugged from it. Pictures of what people are having for lunch? Really?

I think people who complain about too much noise on Facebook need to select who they 'friend' better. I use Facebook to keep up with friends, but I prefer twitter where I can follow interesting people who only retweet interesting stuff.

Phone etiquette here is not bad at all. Not sure what the Japanese think about FB. I would never go near it.

Left click the down arrow in the upper right corner of a facebook post. Select "Unsubscribe from status updates by..." or "Unsubscribe from photos by..." or "Unsubscribe from comments and likes by...".

i think the reason why people post so often is that they need positive reaffirmation in their lives, but it ends up looking like trivial crap that annoys the heck out of people.

Almost every Japanese FB friend habitually posts mundane photos of their meals. This is sharing too much, and why I've stopped following/subscribing to them.

Don't like what some people are posting? Don't read it. Wow...that simple!

I have over-sharing "friends" who post EVERYTHING on FB and Twitter, even their toilet problems (e.g. "I'm never going to eat kimchi and coconut milk ever again! Diarrhea now!" - true story). I usually hide people like that from my news feed.
