You are correct. The film might have been Kodak, but the cameras were not. Its a major mistake of the article.

If Kodak wasn't so arrogant and hadn't assumed American consumers would always choose it over the up and coming Japanese brands, then it wouldn't be in the situation it is today. And Fujifilm that was Kodak's main competitor, not Olympus.

Happens to any business that doesn't innovate with the times. Just look at Sony. They had the Walkman and later the Discman. They thought they could keep it going like that, but consumers are using digital players instead. Now Sony has nothing in that area.
