the issue is the changed culture of police in the u.s.

police training is dreadful now. there is no deescalation training. police are taught to control every situation by intimidation and bullying, never allowing people to speak by talking over them.

they do not know the law anymore. two generations ago, knowing laws and the law test was the most important element of training. if you didn’t know the law and pass it, you were washed out.

you were taught that your job was to enforce laws, not to be angry and not to lecture people. it’s not personal, it’s business. issue a ticket, if necessary, investigate the facts of an incident, use your training to take someone down or restrain them, if necessary, but above all, know the law.

today, people who got all c’s and d’s in high school can become a police officer. that’s ok if you know the rights of people, know the law and follow correct procedures.

you can see insane numbers of police encounters on youtube now that are just the opposite. ego and ignorance are poor character traits in police work.

the thin blue line mindset (always support even the worst police officers) has created this culture of lawlessness in police work.

by the time i was a sergeant, working as a shift supervisor or desk sergeant, i decided it was not for me anymore. too many people who morphed into god mode when they strapped on a gun. amped up to get in a fight without an ounce of wisdom.

That is absolutely not true. They are taught to de-escalate a volatile situation, but when you have convicts who frankly don't give a damn and have nothing to lose, all the talking the in the world will not get you out of a violent confrontation.

The left went on a defund the police jihad and that has cost the nation millions, cops are beaten and demoralized, and many quit early or retire, and then what you ultimately left with? My brother is a cop and I know and seen for a fact that the vast majority of cops are good law-abiding citizens, the more the left try and not allow them to do their, you will see more deflection these people for the most part and love their job

No, cops are trained to treat every person they interact with as armed (goes without saying in the US) and a threat.
